Garrett Wolfe 10.6 YPC vs. Browns
Wolfe is now averaging 5.5 yards per carry on the season and the Bears are still giving about 80% of the rushing carries to Matt Forte who couldn't even average 4 yards per carry against the Browns. Is it time to at least go from 80-20 to 65-35?

until we fix the o-line, it doesn't matter who's running the ball...

Re: Garrett Wolfe 10.6 YPC vs. Browns
Wolfe wouldn't average no more than 2 or 3 if he got more carries. He's only good in limited situations. YPCs don't always tell the whole story. 5-10 is all he's good for.

Re: Garrett Wolfe 10.6 YPC vs. Browns
Still, if Wolfe is good for 10 per game, and we're only running 25 times a game, that's 40% of the carries. Our running game as a whole sucks this year...at least give Wolfe a shot on the off tackle and pitch plays. I like to think he's a pretty good screen receiver too. He's shown nothing but heart and toughness this year, even when bonehead turner sends him between the tackles.

Re: Garrett Wolfe 10.6 YPC vs. Browns
I don't buy it that his production would go down after 5-10 carries. Yes, due to his size, you don't want him in as much for pass protection, so you have to be creative with your blocking, but I don't see his size being a factor in YPC, statistically.
And No, I would not want to see him in short yardage.

Re: Garrett Wolfe 10.6 YPC vs. Browns
by the way, anyone know where or how I can see Wolfe's 30+ yard run? I missed it. Too bad it was late in the game. I doubt the highlights will show it.

People dont understand this concept. Same can be said for AP. Go look at his stats. The more carries the faster ur c his ypc go down

Although his ypc may drop with more carries, what I don't agree with is the assumption that after a lot of carries, Wolfe's average would be worse than Forte's, or at least significantly worse, just because he's small, without basing it on any data. We do not know what he is capable of yet at this level, because he never carries it that many times. I'd like to see him get a few more carries. Also, when people talk about leaving a RB in there long enough to get into a rhythm, Wolfe is never in there enough to do that.
None of the Bears RBs are going to average many ypc behind this O-line, today's breather notwithstanding. So you're not going to have a huge dropoff in any case.

In two of the last 3 games, Wolfe's longest run was longer than Forte's longest run.

Re: Garrett Wolfe 10.6 YPC vs. Browns
Watching the game closely, I think Forte is missing some holes that are there, dont always balme it on the line. Forte is doing to much of running up the back of his line, I cant count how many times he could have bounced it out and picked up more yards, so some of it is Fortes fault.

I didn't actually notice that as much this week as some previous weeks. But I wasn't watching for it that closely, I was just glad he was able to get some yardage so we weren't constantly in 2nd and 9 and 3rd and 8 situations.

L.M.F.A. O.....I told my wife earlier there would be a thread like this after the game...it was a big run in garbage time that skewed his numbers....GMAFB

So I keep hearing that you can't subtract Forte's occasional big run from his average ypc - why can you exclude Wolfe's big run? Anyway, Wolfe's average without that run is 4.25 ypc, vs. Forte's 3.5 ypc. So even if you exclude his big run, and then assume his ypc would drop with more carries, he might still have a better average than Forte.
Wolfe only got 1 carry that wasn't in mop up time so it's hard to compare. But still, stop trying to rationalize the nice runs that Wolfe has in his limited carries. A lot of backs wouldn't have been fast enough to get the corner on that play, mop up time or not.

He picks it up his yds in garbage time. Just like the long run he had today! We seen what Wolf could do when he gets a oppurtunity and thats nothin.
He is talanted but with are OL, he wouldt last. He would get broke.

If we would have given little Wolfe the ball 100 times he would have gotten 1,000 yards!!!!!!!
