Bears bar in New York City

Come to St. Marks Ale House (St. Marks and 3rd Ave, near the Astor Pl station on the 6 train) on Sundays... this will be my third season there and it has been a blast...

I have been looking for a Bear bar in New York City. Do they always play the games there? Any other Bears fans come out to watch? For at least three hours every Sunday it should feel a little bit like home.

I also go to St. Marks Ale House every Sunday.

They always play the Bears games there.IMO, like 40-60 bears fans gather for every regular season game. All dressed up in bears gear and all.

    Join the fun

I've been to St Marks a couple times and haven't had much fun there, to be honest. The wait staff are rude and inattentive, the food and drinks are overpriced, and you don't always get the game sound, or a decent-sized TV.

I prefer the Gael Pub, at 83rd and 3rd in Manhattan - they only show Bears games, on every TV, and have $50 tab raffles and Bears-related giveaways, Goose Island beer, and decent food and drink specials. It's also -only- Bears fans, and for big games the whole place gets packed, around 150 people. We had 200 for each game during the '06 post-season,

If you can't do Upper East, I HIGHLY recommend Josie Woods Pub in the West Village. Jeff of DaBearsBlog.com and a bunch of other big fans are regulars there.

I guess you like the gael pub so much because you organize that event. right?

anyway, I've been to all the bears bars in NYC and all are ok.

Well, that's definitely true. But I also really, really like Josie Woods (which is in the same neighborhood as St Marks), which I don't organize.

And, when I first moved here, before I helped organize stuff at the Gael, I went to St. Mark's. It was seriously the first place I went in New York. And it really was not very enjoyable - I'm not exaggerating about anything I said in my previous comment. It is entirely possible that that's changed, especially since that was a couple of years ago, but you know how bad experiences can keep you from going back.

One thing I do know is that Josie Woods and the Gael are -Bears- bars, not football bars. At the Gael, the only game playing is the Bears game. When I went to St Marks for the first few games of the season in '06, the Bears were on a small TV, with no sound.

Having said that, different strokes and whatnot. We're all fans when it comes down to it, so people should go wherever they feel the most comfortable. And there are some attractive coeds at St Marks!

I've been to St. Marks as well and enjoyed the atmosphere mainly because i was surrounded by people from Chicago and it felt like home.  I recommend the place and will agree that the "eye candy" is there in abundance.
