Caleb Hanie Is Our QB of The Future

I'm trying to like this guy, I just can't get on the bandwagon. please help me. I've seen him listed as listed as short as 5-10 and as tall as 6-1. He's had some good wideouts, though he's done well to find them consistently, but he just seems like a west coast jeff garcia type to me. I like that he's a scrappy QB, throws well enough, I'm just not convinced.

Yeah I'll admit hes probably more suited for a West Coast type offense and if he really is only 5'10"  it will be tough for him to see his throwing lanes but I'm pretty sure I saw him listed more around 6'0"

I'll give you a heads up CHase is slotted between the 2nd - 6th round in next years draft. He's behind the likes of Tebow*, STafford*, Harper, Painter.... Now if Chase gets measured at anything below 6" he might be Chris Leak. Godd college career, but not drafted.

does everyone really think that tebow, stafford and all these other juniors or even soph's (bradford) will even come early?  maybe stafford might but i just don't think tebow comes out early unless he wins the big one.  if none of these big names come out the only two qbs i think we should go after is cullen harper and chase daniel.

Here's one damn good reason not to like Chase: that horrendous strip of facial hair.  He's a stellar college QB, but I just can't get past that aspect of him.

Also, as others have noted, he's below 6 ft.  He's had very few batted passes in his career, but that's thanks to his great o-line and the fact that he lines up way far back in the shotgun.

No, we don't need another QB in town that's under 50 foot tall, we would have to wade through another 5 gabillion threads "He's too short"

The only real knock on Chase Daniel so far is that he has weight issues. And at his height thats not a good thing. Other than that I like him; he's a winner and a fighter.

But I still like Graham Harrell more.

He's really fun to watch in college, but the height thing doesn't come back to bite him yet because the Missou offense is EXCLUSIVELY run from the shotgun.  Lots of WR screens and zone / read stuff (from what I've seen).  I think if you put him under center in the NFL and asked him to throw a 5 yard slant, it would bounce off the middle of WIlliams' or Tait's back.

But, like mentioned earlier, if we've got a late round (6th or 7th) round pick to burn, I'm not against drafting him and letting him play a little sandlot ball (scramble like crazy and create your own throwing lanes) if we lose a pair of QBs ahead of him.

I know he SHOULD go later in the draft, like Troy Smith, but the Drew Brees talk might get him to 3rd or 4th. (Brees went in the 2nd) And with this piss poor senior qb class, someone WILL take him higher than his height would suggest.

Ive since stepped off the bandwagon a little, BUT, if hes still there in the 5th-then we Must take him. No brainer, low risk-high reward.
