Draft full of O-Line prospects to boost and youthanize our old O-line that will help our O, especially Forte. I am assuming that OB's Bradford and Tebow stay in college. And that the Bears are picking in teens to early twenties and get a couple extra picks for Berrian and Brendon.  

 

Round 1) Duke Robinson, Oklahoma Height: 6-5. Weight: 330. Projected 40 Time: 5.28. Big physical gaurd. Can play either guard position, but can start right away at RG. Can continue the youth movment on the line, with Chris Williams at LT and Beekman at LG. 

OR

Eugene Monroe, Virginia OT Height: 6-6. Weight: 315.
Projected 40 Time: 5.19. Projected Round (2009): Top 20 Pick. Big, athletic tackle that could play either spot. Just another pick to youthen our offensive line.

2) Phil Loadholt, Oklahoma Height: 6-8. Weight: 350. Projected 40 Time: 5.36. Huge tackle. Ran sit and learn behind Tait for a year or two at most and then be a dominant run blocking RT on a young O-Line to help out Forte.  

OR

Herman Johnson, LSU OG Height: 6-7. Weight: 349. Projected 40 Time: 5.43. Projected Round (2009): 2. Gigantic man. Can push Garza for starting RG. With Beekman at LG.

Either way, should take a OT-OG combo in 1st and 2nd rounds.

3) Carlton Mitchell**, South Florida WR
Height: 6-4. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.39.
Projected Round (2010): 2-3.
7/26/08: Not only does Carlton Mitchell have a very impressive 40 for his massive frame, he also was very productive as a redshirt freshman; he caught 37 passes for 537 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Bulls in all three categories.

Can be a big play maker on an offense with no go to reciever. Has a big frame for any QB to hit.

4) Larry English, Northern Illinois
Height: 6-3. Weight: 250.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70. DE. Has good size and speed. Can be apart of a great DE rotation.

4) [comp pick for Berrian] Antoine Caldwell, Alabama
Height: 6-3. Weight: 294.
Projected 40 Time: 5.03. Could sit an learn behind the best, and takeover when Kreutz retires.

5) Jorvorskie Lane, Texas A&M
Height: 6-0. Weight: 285.
Projected 40 Time: 4.76. FB-RB. Tough physical runner, with deceptive speed and elusiveness.

6) [comp pick for Ayenbadejo] Josh Freeman #1, QB Kansas State 6'6" 250 A big QB with a big arm and lots of potential.

6) Stephen McGee, Texas A&M
Height: 6-3. Weight: 208.
Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
Projected Round (2009): 6-7.  Athletic QB.

7) Jasper Brinkley, South Carolina
Height: 6-2. Weight: 257.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Good size and speed for MLB. But if fully recovers from injury could be a steal.

all in all good draft but we wont take two qbs and josh freeman wont make it to the six but i would prefer him in the fifth is hes there ove the texas qb and in the 2nd i like alex boone a little more at right tackle but with this draft i would be very happy especially with the 6 ft 280 pund full back leading the way for forte but i would make lane drop about 20 pounds of fat cuase he looks a little chubby and and 6ft 260 he will still me a monster and now a little bit faster

I know Robinson can be a special player but drafting two guards in the first two rounds is probably not going to happen. If everything grades out right there is going to be alot of value in rounds 2-4.

I still think we should draft at least two O-linemen 1-4 not a first rounder and two sevenths like last year.

that mock doesnt have two guards going 1st and 2nd it has a first round guard then a right tackle so the line wouls look somthing like this

Williams-Robinson-Kruets-Beekman-Loadholt/Boone this is what the size of our oline would be

6'6 315-6'5 340-6'2 290-6'2 310-6'8 315

and if kreutz is done then the line will be like this

Loadholt is awful for one.

& you have Josh Freeman as a 6th round pick.. Get real.

What round do you suggest Freeman be drafted in ? If your suggest Freeman go in the first or second round , forget it ! Because no senior quarterback should be drafted prior to the third round this year .

Where do you have Freeman going? He's not even listed in most 2009 mock drafts or position rankings. I found him being ranked as a third rounder in the 2010 draft... Plus Loadholt is a top 5 tackle in every ranking I have seen. So he obviously cant be too bad. Plus, he will be behind Tait until he retires, so he'll have time to improve.

I would grab Duke and Herman Johnson in a heartbeat.  They both would be an immediate upgrade on the line, and coupled with Williams, could be our answer for the next 7-8 years.  Let Garza or Beekman be the backup.  Metcalfe is history.

In 09 FA, or the 2010 draft, go for OT and/or OC to complete the line overhaul.  After 08, we will have about $15.0M of cap room freed up, and after 09, we will have another $20.0M ( Tait, Ogun, and Olin ).  This should give us a shot at at least two decent free agents each year.  First day guys, not the Bookers and Lloyds.

Can Beekman be an eventual replacement ( after 2009 ) for Olin, or is he too small?

Are we saying that Micahel Oher is not going to be available when we pick?  Because I haven't seen his name even mentioned...

 

Oher is top 5 definitely, so don't count on it unless we go 4-12 or worse.

 

This is a good draft theoretically, but take out about half of the o-line picks and add defense if you want to be realistic.  Until Angelo figures out football is played on both sides of the ball, we'll never take more than one offensive lineman on the first day.
