Could Juice Williams be our Next Quarterback?

I know hes only a Junior ( I think) so it wont be an option till next year but he seems to have a good arm and is extremely athletic. There are a lot good tools to work with and he could be definatel NFL material if he continues to improve. Any thoughts on this?

I hope that the coaching staff and management draft a QB this year, so that we won't have to worry about this, but you never know, they might not take a QB at all this next year. I do think that Juice has the potential to be an NFL starter, but he has to show better accuracy and decision making in order to become an NFL starter.

I would prefer Chase Daniels, the QB from Missouri.  He has looked very impressive again this year.  Sure, he is not the perfect size, but he has some great skills.  I don't know when he might be drafted, but I would seriously take a flyer on him if I were on the Bears draft team.

He makes shaky decisions sometimes, but I think if the coaching staff practiced more on making Juice an accurate pocket passer, he could be great.  He has a hell of an arm, can avoid pressure and can scramble, but the biggest knock on him is he is sometimes innaccurate.  But if he stays at Illinois next year and continues to progress, he could be a very, very good QB.

"Sometimes inaccurate" is a gross understatement.  I've seen him live.  He'll go through stretches where a 5-yard out is too much to ask from him.  If he makes an NFL team, it won't be as a QB.  I'd imagine him as an Antwaan Randle-El type WR with whom you can run the occasional gadget play.

You mean our future wide receiver, right?

He's not going to be drafted as a QB.  No way.

Someone will take him in the 6th round and sweat him until he drops 30 lbs.  Then they'll teach him to catch balls.  Either that, or he's a fullback.

Re: Could Juice Williams be our Next Quarterback?

He's no different than a Kordell Stewart at this point...and whether or not he should have been playing QB in this league is debatable.

I think he'll develop enough to get a shot at QB in this league, a la Seneca Wallace, but he'll eventually be a QB/WR/FB/S (wherever he fits, I'd guess safety like Scott Frost did)

But in short, NO, he's not our next QB, and if he is, we're gonna be the only team in the league running the QB option.

Re: Could Juice Williams be our Next Quarterback?

Our offensive picks need to be "finished products".  Our offensive coaches have not proven they can develop conventioanl talent, let alone an unconventional talent like Juice.

The passing game in the NFL is played at a certain speed, and if you can't make the quick reads, you can't make it up with your legs.  Witness Bobby Douglass, Vick, Vince Young, Ryan Leaf.  All guys with great gifts, but unable to get up to the speed of the passing game.

Could Juice be the next Randel-El?  Maybe.  The guys has skillz.  I always thought that Whisenhut used Randel-El effectively in Pittsburgh for that one trick play a game.  Randel-El threw one last week.

I like Juice Williams and also i like the speed of A Benn from Illinois too! Is Benn a receiver or rb?

I think we need a faster speedy rb to back up Forte

Our priority for first round is offensive line

Benn is a wideout, but he's not eligible for the draft until next year.  He's likely to be an early first rounder.  Best player on the Illini team by far.

Benn is a major stud at WR. If there's any way we can get our hands on that guy when he comes out, we HAVE to do it. He and Hester at WR would be a VERY good set. Not to mention Lloyd if he's still around.

    God I hope not.

I like Chase Daniels alot and he has alot of potential. Also I feel that if Juice continues to improve he could be a NFL QB by the end of his senior season. Its also possible if he still has his accuracy and decision making issues he could also be drafted as a WR project.

Chase Daniel is a horrible system QB.  Seriously, not a single expert thinks he can be a pro QB.  Right now he's projected as a fifth rounder.

    He's a Chris Leak/Troy Smith/Colt Brennan/Andre Ware/Akili Smith/Rick Mirer/Ty Detmer/Chris Weinke.

College stats don't mean a thing when it comes to how you'll do in the pros.  A QB can throw 100 TDs in a season in college and still be a complete failure in the NFL because his game is too suited for college.

Example: Matt Ryan.  His numbers in college sucked, but he had everything else right.

You can't be serious with this question....even after another year in college, he'd have tons to work on to even be considered as an NFL project.
