Good Sox win series against Bad Sox.

Looks like 'ol man Contreras pitched his last game.  Too bad Kenny didn't pick up another starter before the trade deadline.  Let's hope Carrasco (if he's the replacement) is up to the job.

    No doubt.

D.J. did fill in admirably last night, and so far in his long relief roles, he's done a superb job. He's, at least, earned an opportunity to pitch in Jose's spot.

    Al Michaels:
Apparently, KW wants to find out as Jr. is gonna be playing Center.

In terms of Alexei, I think the Sox might try and acquire O-Cab for another year or 2. Ramirez has been solid at 2nd, and moving him to Short would mean a huge change--something I don't think Ramirez would be able to handle.

Say, how is your fantasy team doing this year anyway?

I'm currently in 2nd out of 17 teams and about 8 points behind the leader.  I traded Johnny Damon for Greinke because Quality Starts is the stat that I can make up the most points in and I had a glut of outfielders.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

Oh, Grienke's a good pickup. The man's been pretty solid this season, and quality starts is something he's been racking up this year. The one bad thing though, is that he's been a  huge slump the last couple of weeks.

Either way, I'd rather have him than Damon because you already got a good corp of OFs.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

Great, easily won game last night. Zquez giving another quality start...let's see how he does next time.

EDIT: two back-to-back amazing outings by the starters. Let's see if Broadway can follow suit tommorrow.

Oz says he's not going with Carrasco cause he's far to valuable to the bullpen, with guys starting to slump a bit, and an injury to Linebrink--good reasoning to me.

Horrible, horrrrrible, horrrrrrrrrible loss last night.  Watching the bullpen throw this one away was the absolute pits.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

Only a Sox pitcher can let that happen: give up a HR to Jack Cust with an 0-2 count. The man swings at EVERYTHING, yet here's Dotel throwing him a nice cookie to crush.

Oh well, Sox get another fantastic performance from Danks, and then absolutely CRUSH former farm-hand Gio Gonzalez...holy crap, I can't believe the Sox actually had a chance of sweeping the A's, in Oakland, none-the-less.

8-24:  Sox steal one today to avoid a sweep.  AJ solidifies his reputation as a pain in the asss of opponents by faking a collision with the shortstop during with a 10th inning rundown and ends up scoring the winning run.

Sox give up leads in the other two games, which left me so po'd it was a struggle to watch the game today.  Thank god I did.

Yeah, this series really ate my lunch--especially Vasquez proving once again he's the biggest headcase around (he was sailing, something happens, and he completely loses it).

    Oh well...

A double to start it off and then Swisher hitting a home run was a nice start tonight!  =p

Still gotta win the division first, though.

And today's win will certainly help with that. Another good game by Floyd, and Los Quentin finally reaches the century mark in the RBI category.

at the very least we will win a wild card then the twinkies are Toast because we were eliminated by them in 07 ! Ozzie is working on some pay back you can count on that.

I want plenty of cushion between us and MN before that final series in the last week in MN. Nothing but bad things come out of that dome.  Hope Linebrink is back soon. I'll feel a lot more comfortable having him around in the middle innings. GO SOX!!

No kidding, I hate that stupid-@ss dome. I hate any team that plays in a dome.

And Linebrink: where art thou? We need ya, buddy.
