I live in Calgary, lol!!! Go Flames Go!!!!!! Flames in 6!!!
It's gonna be a good series. Hawks are good and dominated us in regular season and Habi was a cash cow till this year but is doing good now. Flames a little injured but getting healthy so watch out! Our size is gonna be a killer in the long run getting to young hawks!!! Wish you luck, but Flames in 6 maybe 7??? So Bear Down as Iggy and the Flames fly into town!!!!
In this space, I can insult our coaches, GM and owner, but I can't have an ignore list? Seems fair, doesn't it? team players don't point fingers, they find solutions! How is sayin someone never played a team sport an "attack", lol!

ORLFLBEAR:Nothing better than a bunch of scrappy young warriors with a swagger and attitude that don't care whether or not they have playoff experience...hate to disappoint you but, Hawks in 6.
Maybe??? We'll see. But history not good for the young teams. Next year and maybe a few after that, watch out for the Hawks! Just not this this year.

I agree, it'll be an awesome series!!
My wife is from Calgary, so I've become a Flames fan also.
I like the Hawks and the Flames.
Those are my two NHL teams. I guess I am in a very good position. I can be very happy, regardless of the outcome. I want the Hawks to win, barely.
We were lucky enough to be in Calgary a few years ago to catch a Hawks/Flames game. The Hawks lost, and I lost a bet with the wifie. I've been sporting a flames cap ever since. ;) We caught another game a year or two later (Falmes vs. Boston). It was awesome. My wife's dad got some box seats. We had dinner at the Saddledome and then watched the game in comfort. Best experience that I've ever had at a sporting event.
Even though I'm from the states, and live in Chicago, I generally like to see the Canadian teams do well. Hockey is such a huge deal in Canada. There is no bigger waste in sports than to have Tampa Bay or Carolina win the cup. There are people in those cities that don't even know that they have a hockey team. I generally follow the playoffs until the Hawks and the Canadian teams are eliminated.
Glad that you're a Bears fan. Should be a good series and a good season for the Bears.

I've been to many Flames games, the atmosphere of the live crowd doesn't translate on the TV. Plus Calgary has the best home crowd in the league!
Going to my first Bears game too, so I'm pumped!! Home opener against Pitt!!! I'm pumped!!!

Sorry. Hockey is really Canada's game. I am in Canada at least once a month for my job and visit frequently to see family, as well. I spend a lot of time there and have seen how crazy the Canadians are about Hockey.
What happened in the States when the strike happened a few years ago? People in the States watched other sports or found some other way of spending their time and $$$.
Canada started to televise minor league and high school hockey. What is even more surprising is that people watched it. People were going to bars to watch this stuff. Would you go to a bar to watch high school hockey? My guess is that you wouldn't. Hockey in Canada is bigger than high school football is in Texas. There is no comparison between a typical Canadian hockey fan and hockey fans in the States.

I played AAA high school hockey for 3 years and what you say is somewhat true. I am now 32, so it's been a while, lol! But they would stuff 2500 people in a 2000 capacity rink game after game!!! Crazy crowds too!!! Heck I love hockey, but if you make me choose between Bears and hockey ................ DA Bears win hands down!!!!!!!

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure about attendance record. Isn't a sellout like 22000 for chicago? It's 17500 jammed to the nuts here. Good game last night, could've gone both ways. Bring on game #2!!! Crowd seemed pretty good last night, but there was quiet times(on tv anyways). The C of red is gonna blow it out!!!! GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!!!

I'm Canadian and I agree about the Bears winning hands down...but Rugerman is generally right.
When the NHL strike happened, they televised all kinds of minor-league games. It was the year my hometown team won the Memorial Cup (Go Knights!). The TV numbers were astronomical. It would be like having Superbowl size numbers for the BCS Championship game. Hockey is all you get all of the time up here...which is why I really love the NFL...I'm a contrarian. :)
P.S. Go Hawks! I never really liked that team until they got Pat Kane from the Knights and Jonathan Toews who led Canada in the most memorable Canada-U.S. World Junior game I can remember. Oh yeah...they also have the best unis in all of sports.
P.P.S. Go Habs! Win at least one!

I think most TV stations try and filter out some of the crowd noise so the announcers are easier to hear and don't get drowned out by the crowd. I know CSN here does it as sometimes you can barely hear the crowd at all even though you can see them going nuts.

Crowd noise was on, I'm just sayin that the smaller rink and crazier fans make it real loud and exciting!!!! I was actually impressed with the crowd noise last night, at times. I also find that Bears Home games are quiet on tv compared to other stadiums??

Hockey is indeed Canada's game, especially in Montreal. It's all about the Canadiens. We've been playing for 100 years. Sadly, getting swept by hated Boston is no way to celebrate our Centennial season. However, Boston has an excellent team. So, they should win the East. Also Pittsburgh has the skill to outplay Boston, but not the grit.
Calgary vs. Chicago. Even though the Blackhawks are an Original Six team, Calgary represents Canada's other hope (apart from Vancouver) of bringing home the Stanley Cup for the first time in 15 years. Therefore, I'm cheering for Calgary. Should the Blackhawks outlast Calgary, I might be cheering for Chicago the rest of the way. However, I don't like their chances against a powerhouse like Detroit.
Soon, the Habs will be history. Which bangwagon will I jump on after tonight? I might lean towards the Rangers even though they got embarrased at home last night.
After the '09 Stanley Cup has been awarded, it'll be interesting to see what changes the Canadiens make in the off-season. A poor showing in the second half of the season means that the organization needs to shake things up in order to be competitive again.
Oh by the way, the last Canadiens game that I saw was on March 31. Interestingly enough, they played the Blackhawks. I was in my Canadiens gear, from head to toe. Should the Canadiens play in Chicago next year, I might travel there to seem them battle each other.
Talk to you later.
Fred, from Kingston, ON Canada
P.S. The Chicago Bears have been my football team for the past 25 years, and I'm not joking around!
