As a Cub fan, congratulations on pulling it out last night. And yes, a crosstown World Series would be a good thing.

    thicknthin:
Great win for the Sox! I`m still hoping for a Windy City series.

I too would like that. This city would just be electric--I can't even imagine how crazy it would be.

EDIT: hey, I see you fixed the quoting thingy.

It'd only be about 1,000, maybe 1,500 people. Okay, 2,000 tops, but that's it.

    I could live with that.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

Surprise surprise, Vazquez sucks again. What else is new about this guy? The only year he's been decent for the Sox was in clear non-contention one.

Bright spots: Dewayne Wise, Clayton Richard, AJ, Paulie, Ramirez.

Fails: Thome, Jr, Uribe, OC. Between Uribe and OC: 9 men left on. Between the 4 of them: no hits, 5 SO. Good job guys!

Oh, have I mentioned that Vazquez sucks? Javy to team: "okay guys, I'm gonna give up a lot of runs, so you do your best to try overcome that."

I'm not waiving the white flag though. They went in with their worst pitcher, still put up a fighting chance. There's always tomorrow.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

Thanks for bucket of cold water, Javy.  Yes, we know you suck and spotted any kind of lead you will squander it.  Thanks for showing up today even though many said to start Richard instead. May I introduce you to the bullpen, Mr V?  We'll try not to wake you.

THIS is the team that's driven us to distractions the month of September.  Bases loaded with 2 outs in the 7th and in one of the more bizarre incidents you'll ever see Carbrera starts yelling at the pitcher.  Have you ever tried to swing at a 95 mph fastball while your blood pressure is sky-rocketing and your staring daggers at the pitcher?  I'm betting you're at a severe disadvantage.  'Sho 'nuff, he K's.

Al, you can add Griffey to that list of Fails.  3 K's.

Only thing to say is go get 'em tomorrow.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

Yeah, that OC incident was a bit odd needless to say...that whole bases juiced thing had me pulling out my luxurious hair.

Oh, and I did have Griff up there (under JR).

I must admit though, if I were in Oz's shoes, I too would've trotted out JV. I mean, you just kinda gotta think to yourself "no WAY he does bad in 4 straight starts". How wrong I was...

Sorry, Al...I read too fast sometimes.

My theory on Javy was that Ozzie thought he could pull another Danks and thought with an important game on the line Javy was going to come out and pitch strong and not make the usual mistakes.  Wrong.  To compound matters Ozzie left him in too long when it was obvious that he was not strong and was making the usual mistakes.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

alright first off, i am so proud of the sox this year. to start off the season nobody thought they would be in contention for the al central, and then to play through the injuries, and then to beat the twins in the 1game playoff, was just amazing. It was a fantastic end to the regular season.

now, nobody is picking them to do anything against the rays, and i understand why, but im feeling pretty good about the series. we only lost by 2 yesterday and javier is the worst pitcher we will be sending to the mound this series. they only won the regular season series against us by one game,,, and they swept us early in the season when we had absolutely ZERO offense. so things are looking good now, and even if we dont get past them i still think it was a good year and am proud of the sox.

BUT, even with the sorrow of the lose yesterday,, i was SO HAPPY to watch the cubs just freaking implode on themselves. i was laughing and screaming and having a great time watching that game last night. they looked terrible and if they lose after everyone had such high expectations,,, then no matter how the sox do i will be happy. I liked it last night when the crowd tried not to get down on the cubs and would cheer for 2 strikes and what not, in the 8th they were finally booing and just sat back and laughed.

dont worry cub fans,,,, theres always next year, and the year after that, , and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that.

Re: Official 2008 White Sox thread

Like Big Paulie said after the tie breaker, both the Twins and Sox should feel good cause during pre and the beginning season, all the talk was about Cleveland (fail) and Det (another fail). No one mentioned these two squads, and low and behold who were the ones battling for the last play off spot?

There's still time guys. Even if they lose again today, I won't be going nuts--unlike the Cubs series, at least the Sox will be coming home after game 2 instead of going into hostile territory. String one win together, and who knows what can happen afterward.

In terms of the Cubs game, I'm really amazed at how solid the Dodgers really are (given they're missing the likes of Kent and what not). Good teams overcome errors or take advantage of them. And after last night, we saw which of the two was the 'good' team.

Should the Dodgers win, I can't wait to watch Philly and LA go at it.

Ask and you shall receive.  Sox win 5-3 in game 3.  Clutch hitting and another good outing by Danks.  With Floyd pitching tomorrow we could well even things up.

    GO SOX!!!!!!!!

well...john danks has really proven himself IMO.  he has a great ERA  he has been great in the last couple weeks of this year and has been huge in must win situations.  first he beat the twins to get us through to the playoffs and now he beats the rays to keep us alive in the playoffs.  i am looking forward to see what he can do next year.  hopefully the end of this years season doesnt end today.

Yeah, JD's been great. Too bad his offense didn't like helping him out too much this year.

*Note to Orlando Cabrera: you wanna try doing something this series? What a complete non-factor.
