Unbelievable comeback.  Hawks have youth, speed and talent.  The only thing that worries me is Huet.  I hope it wasn't a mistake getting rid of Khabibulin.

also goes to show  the hawks  have  goalie problems and will keep them from winning the stanley cup anything less that that this season is a failure

5 goals, wow they must have no defense...

"Bears defense gave up 31 points again in the first half. That happened for the second time in three weeks -- and only five times in Bears history before this season."

It started ugly, but it ended up being one hell of a game after Niemi warmed up. Really hope that Huet sees some bench time, his immediate exit after failing to stop the first three leads me to believe he will.

Too bad, the communist Red Wings have the Hawks number for the last, oh I dont know, couple of decades.  What good is it to play well during the season. only to be bounced once again in the playoffs by the same team of 40 year olds?

Kinda reminds me of Pistons/Bulls in the late eighties.

    ???

If you're using the playoffs, he got lit up once after riding pine and not playing in a game for almost 2 months. He had an inbetween game, and then he had the Detroit game. 7 Goals against in 3 games

Not exactly the best examples off of.

That said, I do agree. Huet SUCKS.

The 3rd goal wasn't exactly is fault IMO. Break away Jarome Iginla is difficult to stop, but still. Everytime I see him in net, I have that wandering knot feeling in my stomach. The same feeling that many people had, when Grossman went back to throw, or even Kyle at times. With Huet in goal literally ANY shot that's close to net has a chance. Huet's either horrible, or amazing. No inbetween.

Niemi gave up some soft goals, but it happens when you don't have experience as the #1 Goalie. I'd put Niemi in, only because he gives the Hawks a fighting chance, which is all they need since they have more than solid Defense, and one of if not THE best offense in the NHL. You give the Hawks a chance, they will bury most teams. If the Hawks are going to continue on as a team, we gotta find some chump that will eat Huet's contract or find a way around it. Its ridiculous quite frankly.

Isn't that a good thing?  Once MJ and crew overtook the "Bad Boys" they went on to win 6 championships and likely would have won 8 in a row if MJ hadn't "retired."  Hopefully we're witnessing a similar "changing of the guard" effect here.  This 'Hawks team could be damn good if they just fix their freakin' goalie problem.  Huet lets in too many softies for my liking.  I almost see him as the "Rex Grossman" of goalies because he'll lay a big, fat chocolatey egg in one game, but he'll somehow manage to save 49 of 51 in a losing effort to the Red Wings in a playoff game.

It was clearly a mistake to let him fly and Havlat.

I loved Havlat as much as the next Hawks fan, but I wouldn't be so quick to say it was a mistake to let him leave. The Hawks are 3-1-1 without him...and more importantly, without his replacement (who is an upgrade, btw), Hossa.

Yes, the shoulder surgery for Hossa blows, but once he's back and playing no one will care.

That was funny, but thats how I felt last night watching it!  Man, that was so unbelievable!  I agree with most here, we definately need a top notch goalie to take us over the top against Detroit, we won't win a thing with Cristabol Huet in net.

Apparently, everyone has thrown Cristobal Huet under the bus.

As a Canadiens fan, I have seen Huet be brilliant at times. Because Carey Price has been labelled as having plenty of potential, General Manager Bob Gainey found Huet to be expendable.

Having seeing Price in nets for an extended period, I get nervous whenever there's a shot on net. It's just like the way you Blackhawks fans are describing Huet right now. At first, I thought that Gainey was crazy to get rid of Huet. After seeing him be a Blackhawk, I'm beginning to know what you mean. As good as the Blackhawks are now, they better get their goaltending situation settled soon. It'll be sad not to see this dynamic team go the distance because such a glaring weakness had never been addressed.

As for that game against Calgary, that was totally amazing. The Flames aren't exact;y pushovers. It just goes to show how good the Blackhawks are. With as much talent as they have, it takes a tremendous amount of heart to comeback from a 5-0 deficit. That's what really impresses me about this team. I also like the fact that they're very well coached under Joel Quenneville.

The Red Wings are on the decline, and the Blackhawks are about to pass them

That`s probably why Gainey let Huet go....inconsistency. Oh if we only had Belfour back in his prime with this team....(sigh).
