We should have more than enough. The only big name players we don't have signed for next season are Grossman(not coming back), Mike Brown(may not be coming back) and Kevin Jones(hasn't done enough to warrant big money). And also keep in mind that a lot of dead cap room from cutting benson, Miller, and moose will now be available

If we were to cut Ogunleye(which I expect since he's making ~7 mil next year), we would have at least part of that going to our cap. I think most of it but I'm not sure how each portion is setup. Then you factor in Hester's incentives which aren't likely to be earned this season along with harris' and C. Williams incentives and you get $10 mil easy. That's enough to sign peppers if he is available. That doesn't even include a raise in the cap.

And sure some other teams may have cap space but many of them aren't as well positioned as we are. We could lose everyone of our top 5 names and still have most of the core team intact. I'd say the top 5 names we'd lose would be Grossman, Brown, Jones, St. Clair and Lloyd. Of those St. Clair and possibly lloyd are the only ones I'd miss.

Peppers would be great for us but lets face it... how many marquee free agents did JA sign in the past 5 yrs or so.. 0, its all about in house signing for him or through the draft....It would be great if we could get Peppers but I dont think Peppers has anything against his team and has no real reason to leave, he can get the same money or even more from Carolina.  I wouldn't even miss Lloyd after he has gone down we haven't really needed him, Orton has been been spreading it out so forget Lloyd, Bennett will take his place next year.

While its true we rarely bring in FA's, it would be strange to sit on all the cap room we will have. Maybe we dont' do anything but I would hope we would just let it go to waste.

Hopefully this season will truly show JA we need more playmakers on the dline, because we are losing the battle in the trenches severely.  I also really hope JA sees that Babich has got to go if we continue to see very little adjustments in the upcoming games.  Personally I think we need Babich gone period.. I never thought he did a good job coaching the dline that well either.

I would LOVEE it if we could somehow steal Peppers away from Carolina, imagine him, Harris and Harrison, that would be awesome.

Since it would take a miracle for the above to happen...my xmas wish is for JA to grow a brain and start scouting our potential DE's we should draft.

JP on the Bears would no doubt wake the game up!! But now he is a major factor so they might want to keep him. And as far as draft picks at DE for 09 Michael Johnson is a beast, Geroge Selvei, and Orakpo should all be on our draft board.

No way Peppers leaves Carolina. They will slap the tag on him for sure if they cant sign him. Plus isn't he a Carolina guy? I thought he went to college in North Carolina.

He did go to school at NC. Carolina is in a tough position though because they also have Jordan Gross they have to sign. I don't know their cap situation but they can only franchise one of the two.

After watching the Bears get hammered again and now JA is finally getting impatient as well, I think its pretty well defined that we need to sign a big time pass rusher, hopefully we can somehow get Peppers but I believe Will Smith from NO is a free agent too and hes no peppers but is a much better upgrade than what we have and still somewhat young i think around 27 or so...
