Post your favorites here for the best places to get some good Chicago Style dogs.

    Gene n Judes!!!!!!!!!

When you wrap a hot dog in greasy fries............Love that LDL.

Gene and Judes can give you a heart attack. I love em.

Here's a site that rates Chicago area hot dog dives.  Gene and Judes didn't do very well.

    http://www.hotdogchicagostyle.com/rate_chicago.php

You have to take Gene and Judes for what it is, A no frills greasy spoon dive. The writer didn't get it. I bet he's from California.

No I'm pretty sure they are from Chicago.  Most of the places they've rated are greasy spoon dives, and I think the places actually get a bonus for being that anyway.

I grew up by Parky's and I agree they're nothing special. They gave Parky's 2 stars and Gene n Judes 2.5. Anyway I only eat hot dogs when I'm back in Chicago. Guess I'll try some of their top rated places and see for myself.

It seemed their main point was that the dog was okay but it just didn't live up to the hype that everyone was telling them.  I've never had Gene and Jude's myself so I wouldn't know.

Until you've had a Blue Seal hot dog from Chicopee Provision, you've never really tasted a frankfurter delicacy.

Out here in Southern California there's QT's Chicago Dogs, the owners are Chicago transplants and import everything directly from Chicago so I guess its about as authentic as you can get......Their Italian beef is pretty good as well.

One of the secrects to a good hotdog is to boil them with a little vinegar in the water.

one of the best ingredients in a quality hot dog is to grind up the testicles of the animal and mix it in whether it be beef, pork, or chicken.  good eating!

    beerfairy:

    Hot Dogs

    1.  Any Portillos location

    2.  Gold Coast Dogs(any location)

    3.  Gene & Judes( 2720 River Rd. River Grove, IL)

    4.  Vienna Beef Outlet Store (2501 N. Damen in Chicago)

    5.  Weiners Circle(2622 N Clark St in Chicago)

    6.  Superdawg(6363 N Milwaukee Ave in Chicago)

as a self-proclaimed hot dog aficionado, this is a great list. i'd probably remove the Vienna Beef Outlet, as they don't serve their dogs well but if you want to take them home for the grill that's a good suggestion. i'd also remove gene & judes. it's a cool place with good grease-food but hardly where you go for a chicago style hot dog.

Portillo's really is the best Dog in Chicago. For beef, try Al's on Ontario.

If you feel like making a trip to Bucktown, don't ever miss George's on N Damen. George himself will slice the tomatos while you wait and stuff your dog. I have probably eaten more Chicago hot dogs than I've taken breaths. George does it best.

Anybody have a " Ripper" ? They are deep fried dogs that burst after frying a long time. It's popular in Jersey. I don't think I would like it myself.
