Niemi has looked good but the Hawks are really keeping Florida from doing anything offensively. Lots of backchecking and blocked shots or just keeping them from shooting at all.

Florida only has 13 shots on goal into the 3rd period.

As I figured, Crawford was sent down to Rockford. The Hawks are going with Huet and Niemi for now. Skill wise and performance wise Crawford and Niemi was basically a draw this preseason, but Niemi was signed as a FA and he can't be sent to Rockford and recalled without clearing waivers first. While Crawford had to clear waivers to go down, he can be recalled without clearing waivers.

It's really too early to tell. The Hawks are good, but Detroit is a veteran team and can score quickly and in bunches. Add in both are playing their first games back from Europe(Detroit was in Sweden) and it's really up in the air how each team will play.

Hjarlmason ( sp ) gets better every game...this kid is good now but he's going to really good before the end of this season.
