    That's awesome!

Just one or two threads. Besides, we have to keep the board's oldest-surviving thread going.

If memory serves me correctly this had over 20,000 on the old board as well.  Just remember who started this thing... me.  Oh there have been many attempts to copy but they all failed.  This will be mine again soon... very soon.

I don't recall a standings thread on the previous. Was there one?

It's your thread Wisc. I'm just taking it over until the time is right - which hopefully never happens. By the way, this thread pre-dates the Word Association thread in the other forum by a couple of weeks.

    IHTB:

Here are the 2 bets, for $20 each:

    1.   I bet you the Patriots will go deeper into the playoffs than the Packers.  Knocked out at the same level is a draw.  If one team makes it and the other doesn't, whoever has the team that makes it wins the $20.

    2.  I bet you $20 that the Bears' total point differential in head-to-head (total points scored less total points allowed for the 2 regular season games) against the Packers will be higher than the Packers?

    Formally agree by responding here.

I'm not so sure about the first bet. But #2 is certainly winnable. I'll go with that one for sure.

You're saying we made that first bet? Are you sure the thread is gone? They go about two months back, don't they?

I'm surprised you don't remember.  I have no proof, the thread I'm sure is gone...I'll look, but that would have been just after the Super Bowl, when Wardi was here.  In fact, it may have been on one of the threads that got deleted when Wardi had anger issues. We made the bet...if you want to back out, I really don't care...it's not that big of a deal.  Just clarify it now so we are on the same page.

    Re: weakone

If I did say that first bet, I would have added the stipulation that it was contingent upon Favre still being on the team. Because without him, that changes things a lot.

Maybe in his next mugshot he will be wearing a Packer hat.  The Cowboys of the north have been known to sign these types.

If he were a consistent 1000-yard rusher, maybe they would.

But he's not. He'll catch on somewhere - after his NFL-served suspension of course. But it won't be in Green Bay.

You would look nice in a Packers Benson shirt IHTB. You would have to wear a bag on your head if the Pack signed super fast and agile CB!!

    2.5yds avg here we come.............

    Packer Gag:
"ESPN Interview. Puker Coach Mike McCarthy gets asked how the Packers will do next season....McCarthy says 'well perhaps 6-10 or 7-9, you know Favre has quit so it might be tough'. Lovie Smith is asked how the Bears will do next season....Lovie says 'Well it has to be 16-0 and WIN the Superbowl by at least 40-50 points...and Forte will break 2,500 yards and Orton will throw for well over 50td's, and I can see Bryant catching at least 150 passes. ESPN reporter says 'Lovie you are getting a bit carried away eh!'....Lovie says...'he started it''

Another question Wisc. Do you agree with the releasing of Benson? If so, why? And if you do think it was the right move, would you feel differently if he were a 1500-yard rusher last season?

Yes, I totally agree with the releasing.   Two arrests in a month shows bad judgement.  He would never have had success in Chicago based on that.  Benson seems to be at a point in his life where he was satisfied in getting his money and seems to be disinterested in using his God given talents.  It is a shame really, but I am not surprised.

Would I feel differently if he was a 1500- yard rusher... I do not know.   I do know that type of production is not likely to occur for a person I described above... he will need to do a 360 to get there and I doubt it will happen.   Good riddance and good luck.

The Benson thing is a no brainer.

Not yet... preseason predictions to me are prior to season.  Let's see how the off season progresses and I will certainly give you my take prior to week one.

I will say this... Cubs and Cardinals will be in playoffs- one a division winner and the other a wild card.  It will be year 25?? for the Brewers to be sitting and watching with their fans.

Cubs looks awfully good this year. Not that I think the Brewers are a wildcard. But I just don't think the Cardinals can last the whole season. I think they're going to start fading later this summer.
