**** The 2007 ARIZONA Bear Fans Official Thread ****

All of the usual suspects should check in here.

My bar of choice is Bruno's in Fountain Hills.  It's located at:

    16737 E Parkview Ave
    Fountain Hills, AZ
    480-836-0770

It's a block and a half west of the fountain, located inside the bowling alley.

Everybody is invited to the opening day beatdown of the PudWackers.  Come early, stay late, take Monday off!

I'm gonna try and post DrueDown's spreadsheet of AZ Bear Bars.

    BIG TEN FANS????

    BIG TEN FANS???

    I found a nice spot last weekend in N. Phoenix near i17 & 101: http://www.santisibrothers.com/

Great food, cheap beer, and a ton of screens! I have a lot of games to watch this Saturday, so this is a good place to watch a lot of games at once. Plus, they have a free texas hold'em tourny at 1pm. What a combo! It is a smoking bar, but it is not smokey at all, finally, relief.

    I told you so.

Great place, get there early & get a big screen right in front of you.

Who had the biggest groups?  Which schools?

Dustin Hermanson of the Sox is co-owner of the joint.

    Re: BIG TEN FANS????

I strolled in at 12:40 last saturday, and there were plenty of seats. At that time, the Ohio state / NIU  game had the volume. I will assume PSU & ND will get that honor this week, who knows who will get the early game. I hope it would be Michigan, but they have a push-over opponent, so probably a Pac-10 game.

For the record, I love all things Big Ten(except OSU, even though I watch every game), but I back Michigan, Northwestern & Illini.

For the Southeast valley people, there will be a new Old Chicago on Arizona Ave and Ocotillo in the Lowe's plaza across the street from Hamilton High School in Chandler.  Don't know when it's opening though.

Hello all! Where we gonna meet Sunday? I'm in Peoria, but since I travel 700 miles a week on these God-forsaken highways for work, I'll drive anywhere to watch this game.

Re: ** Arizona Bear Fans Official Thread 2006 **

Come on over to Bruno's Uncle Zeek, ya got to try it once.  Plus it's against the Packers so there will be plenty of smack being thrown around.

There will be a couple other board members there too.  Urlacher1285 & Jan 26 1986 and here crew will be there.

It's only 30 miles from 101 and I-17.  Take 101 to Frank Lloyd Wright take a left.  Go to Shea blvd [about 4 miles] take a left.  Over the mountain into Fountain Hills to Saguaro turn left [right after the McDonalds]  2 miles down to the lake/fountain turn left on Parkview.  a block and half up on the left in the bowling alley.

Of course everybody in the valley is invited.

hmm, well it is a later game, and a good one, I bet santisi bros has the volume on. Do you know if they have volume for all bears games, are there bears fans who go there?

I was thinking about famous sams in Glendale this sunday, since, as I posted above, I will be at Santisi brothers all day Saturday. OR perhaps Goldies if it is on center screen, however, with the late game, seating will suck at Goldie's. (BTW I'm 16th st. & Union Hills)

What say you people? Santisi or Famous Sams(Glendale)???

I'll probably be wearing my "Da Bears" T-shirt & my Ditka hat

I bet Santisi Bros will have the Cardinal game on with sound.  I went there last year once and it was beyond packed.   Im probably going to go to Old Chicago on 57th and Bell. It's decent there. Hopefully I will be able to make it out to Fountian Hills for a game this year.  Big Smile [:D]

    ChicagoKid,

I didn't mean 'Troll' in a negative sense.  I used to troll at Mable Murphy's before I figured out where the Chicago folks hung out.  We are just better off sticking with each other.  Plus hanging out with that much cheese will leave you stinkin' !!

We had a bad experience at Famous Sam's Glendale for the Browns game.  I'm sure it will be better for a regular season game though.

Santisi Bros. is a Great place.  I have watched many a Sox and Cub game there while playing hooky from work.  Plus Dustin Hermanson from the Sox is one of the owners. [Sorry if I already said that in this thread]

You guys have a great season opener!

    Go Bears!

Jeebus... now what do I do?!

I am planning to go to Famous Sams in Glendale. what went wrong? Is it dirty like all the other FS's? Since there are early games on, will the BEARS room be overrun?

Yeah it's dirty.  The Bear area will be for the Bears only.  They had a REAL bad time with the Sat. feed.  It was tough to find it and then it was scrambled a quarter of the time.  It was like trying to watch porn on the old cable systems.  I went home cross-eyed.  You should be fine.

    Uncle Z,

Bruno's isn't the Taj Mahal by any means but we have a great core of rabid Bear fans.  Not everbody loves Bruno's.  DrueDown didn't care for it.  It's' intimate', 'cozy', all right, it's downright small!  But you won't be confused as to who the bar is rooting for.  It's OUR bar.  And the volume will be pegged at 100, yes you can hear the game at our joint.  We recently lost one of our founding members so there is an open seat at the head table.   Don't forget to bring a hat.  You need something to throw  at the TV when the  refs blow a call.

Come on down and hang out with the guys during the 1st game.  I'll be there at opening.

    Thank God it's football season.
