Any provision of a CBA that is in violation of federal, state, city law is unenforceable as long as the alleged offense occured in the jurisdiction of said state, city etc. Most well written CBA's include language to that effect. The NFL and/or it's CBA never trumps state or federal law.

In other words, a loop hole that just happens to be provided by the (not so) great state of MN.

The contract that every player in the NFL signs states that they will not take certain substances and that anything the played does take is their responsibility. The Williams' took banned substances, period. There was a study done on the "star caps" supplement prior to the Williams coming up hot on the test, stating that the banned substance was in the supplement. If the Williams would have done their homework, and if the Queen's staff would have done their jobs this wouldn't have played out the way it did. This is just another example of people not taking responsibility for their actions.

that guy should never be allowed in a court room again, he shouldve had no authority to overrule a perfectly explainable nfl suspension so that his home team could get an advantage to making the playoffs. Sounds to me like he had some money on them....

I think eventually they will get suspended. Maybe the last part of the season would be better so if they have a mediocre season up until then, they could plumit at the end. LOL

So it would be pretty much like every other year for the Vikings then, just without the Williamses (?) present?

I really don't think they'll get suspended. And you know what? Good. I'd rather win the North against a fully healthy Vikings squad.

What I don't understand is why Professional athletes who have nothing else to do but prepare themselves for 16 games a year have to rely on drugs to do it, employ a dietician eat what they recommend and do more of the correct sort of exercise their really is no excuse for them being overweight and out of shape and thus needing to take tablets to reach a contractual obligation on maximum weight.

I think they have a thyroid problem. LOL

To me the CBA is pretty clear and others with the same type arguments have failed, it's just a matter of time but they will be suspended.

Neither Williams will ever get suspended as long as they play for Minnesota because Minnesota state law outlines precisely what drugs someone must take before an employer can take disciplinary action of any kind against an employee. The Williams' are not accused of taking substances on the list that allows for discipline. The if they get suspended just isn't going to happen.

I don't think that MN state law comes into play in this case because the contract the Williams' contracts with the CBA state that they cannot take any performance enhancement drugs or supplements that mask those drugs. That is why the NFL suspended them initially and the Williams filed a appeal through a judge in MN, that just happens to be a queens fan. They Williams sisters are just trying to get out of it through a loop hole because they didn't know the masking agent was in the supplement.

Never under estimate the ability of the queens to loose a game they should win or the ability of Brad Childress to screw things up. If they do screw up and loose a couple of those early games they will be fighting an uphill battle for the rest of the battle.

It must be nice to be able to go to the local judge, who is a queen fan, to rule on the case. Here's to hoping they get what the deserve!
