Thanks for the post. It'll be interesting to see who Jay really is -- my guess is it's somewhere between the drunk, lazy, difficult guy the Broncos make him out to be and the flaw-free HoFer you described. I'm really excited to see what he brings to the team, especially how he effects Earl Bennett's play.

I'm only posting this because it's June and I'm bored NFL-less. For some real interesting reads on Jay, head over to the Denver Post website and read some of the 'fans' posts. It's just now sinking in that Jay is in the 'other' orange and navy blue. Those poor, poor people. Reminds me of France in 1812.

   No, I don't know much about his family. I know that he was born in Santa Claus, Indiana, and his father ran a fairly good-sized concrete company. They poured most of the slabs in town. He lived in a place called Christmas Lake Village, a suburb of Santa Claus. (NO....lol, I am NOT making this up). His father, Jack, was also a full-time Indiana State Trooper. He built the house Jay grew up in.

     Jay worked for his father starting at age 6, placing re-bar and digging holes. He also worked as a garbage hauler for a summer. He started his first game as a sophmore at Heritage Hills High School and started what ended up becoming a 58-game winning streak. He never lost a single game in high school. As a senior in 2000, he led Heritage to a 15-0 record and the Indiana State Championship.

     During one game that year, Heritage Hills was playing North Posey, a small country school. A few plays into the game, Cutler was struck with a virus that was going around the school. He called a timeout, ran to the sideline and told coach Bob Clayton he had to, ahem, go. And the cornfield wasn't going to cut it. With no other restroom facilities in the immediate area, Cutler held it for a few plays on defense, then ran directly out of the end zone, through an open field, and past the parking lot until he finally reached the school, where he banged on doors until a janitor finally let him.

     Upon his return, Cutler, the fastest kid in Spencer County, scored on a 65-yard punt return, a 24-yard interception return, a 44-yard run and threw a 55-yard touchdown pass in a 69-3 victory.

     After being drafted by Denver, he bought a large home in the area and moved his parents into it. After McCoach decided to express his intellect by trying to trade Cutler for Matt Cassell, Jay sold the home.

     He has followed the Bears his entire life and always been a Chicago Bear fan.

   Personally, if we're going to start selecting nicknames, I prefer "Cutlery". Like a sharp knife, you know. A very, very, very sharp knife. Slicing through defenses. Carving them up like Thanksgiving Day ....turkeys.

Although my brother in law was nice enough to get me taped games of them and I am excited for the first time in a long time about the Bears quarterback position. With our passing game looking to be a legitimate threat it can only open our running game too. The added weapons giving the opposing defense much to think about has me going nuts for this season.

One question, what do you think this will do to the sale of Urlacher jerseys?

What would it cost to get a copy of that? I'm sick of waiting for NFLN to replay Jay's games!! Unreal...they have replayed like 2 in 6 weeks. I've seen plenty of Indy, Pats and the friggen Steelers from the AFC.

Trying to sabotage kickers? Did you chuckle? It's now become something of a dark tradition at INVESCO if there is snow in the bleachers. The announcer has to warn you jerks not to throw snowballs at players.

Whatever makes you feel better boy. Bottom line, like your #1 WO and others to follow....Jay wanted OUT of the mess to come to the mile low city of denver. Hey get a clue kid, you don't trade away a 25 year old pro-bowl QB not even in his prime with possibilities of a long term franchise QB for anything, EVER! I can't find a team that has done this...EVER....not ONCE. Good luck with your 2 backup QBs at best Kyle and Chris. Yea i hear it all the time about the broncos, cant say i am not in agreement with them. it seems the team I loved is gone. I cant stand Mcdaniels, he was lucky I couldn't go to fan day!! Jay is going to do great, he is amazing. Orton is a bore.

I am nervous and excited. That said, I am not a Broncos fan that will try to dissuade from Loving Jay. I am a HUGE Jay fan, watching him was always so exciting. I am really disillusioned with the broncos right now. It seems to be going the NE way, which I am NOT a fan of. Anyway, you guys are so lucky to have Jay.He may not be Elway yet, but he will be someday. He is not the immature baby he Bronco fans make him out to be. I think that is thier way of dealing with the loss of him ( even if they wont admit it). I am sad to leave Denver, but glad to be moving to a city where I not only respect the fans ( which I have in the family as well) but have always liked the team. I will surely watch and root for the team. I will always love my Broncos, but I think there is plenty of room in me to love the Bears as well. Enjoy Jay, I cant wait to see him play again!!

Wow. What an initial post, then follow up story. So what you're saying is that we Chicago Bears fans have, by far, the greatest QB to ever put on a Bears uniform? I'm down with that. Amazing explanation of your personal descent as a Broncos fan, and all that came with it. There have been times that McKaskey has pushed me to the limit too, but I could never pull the trigger.(although I did with Bill Wirtz in 2000. It is nice to have the Hawks back again).

     I've been getting a TON of love at this website. Truth to be told, I looked at my beautiful wife last night and said, "Honey, I kinda feel like maybe I WAS born rooting for orange and blue, ...I just had the wrong orange and blue team all along."

     She laughed.

     Truth to be told, I haven't been this excited about football period in over 10 years. And the way these fans have treated me is just making it better, and better, and better.

     On the other hand, what you said about the far-left fruitcakes taking over the state of Colorado is oh so true. When I was a kid growing up there, the hippies came up with a slogan they put on bumper-stickers. It read, "Don't Californianize Colorado". And then the stupid hippies that spewed that crap went right and did just exactly that.

     I don't even bother to visit anymore.

     But I sure can see the wife and I making a trip to the Windy City in the near future.....hehehehe!!!
