It'll be interesting to see who Jay really is -- my guess is it's somewhere between the drunk, lazy, difficult guy the Broncos make him out to be and the flaw-free HoFer you described. I'm really excited to see what he brings to the team, especially how he effects Earl Bennett's play.
Re: Meet Jay Cutler

They are more like the streerage class passengers on the Titanic.... all the boats have sailed and now they are......

Re: Meet Jay Cutler

hurricaneditka85:

No, I don't know much about his family. I know that he was born in Santa Claus, Indiana, and his father ran a fairly good-sized concrete company. They poured most of the slabs in town. He lived in a place called Christmas Lake Village, a suburb of Santa Claus. (NO....lol, I am NOT making this up). His father, Jack, was also a full-time Indiana State Trooper. He built the house Jay grew up in.

Jay worked for his father starting at age 6, placing re-bar and digging holes. He also worked as a garbage hauler for a summer. He started his first game as a sophmore at Heritage Hills High School and started what ended up becoming a 58-game winning streak. He never lost a single game in high school. As a senior in 2000, he led Heritage to a 15-0 record and the Indiana State Championship.

During one game that year, Heritage Hills was playing North Posey, a small country school. A few plays into the game, Cutler was struck with a virus that was going around the school. He called a timeout, ran to the sideline and told coach Bob Clayton he had to, ahem, go. And the cornfield wasn't going to cut it. With no other restroom facilities in the immediate area, Cutler held it for a few plays on defense, then ran directly out of the end zone, through an open field, and past the parking lot until he finally reached the school, where he banged on doors until a janitor finally let him.

Upon his return, Cutler, the fastest kid in Spencer County, scored on a 65-yard punt return, a 24-yard interception return, a 44-yard run and threw a 55-yard touchdown pass in a 69-3 victory.

After being drafted by Denver, he bought a large home in the area and moved his parents into it. After McCoach decided to express his intellect by trying to trade Cutler for Matt Cassell, Jay sold the home.

He has followed the Bears his entire life and always been a Chicago Bear fan.

     You.....are wrong.

The NFL is a business and I took mine elsewhere. I DO NOT associate with thugs, jerks, or mean people in general, not to mention out-and-out liars. I've already survived games in Oakland-Alameda and the Colleseum in LA. At one point in history Raider fans were somewhat classy too. That changed.

Your nostalgia is touching, but hardly credible. Denver fans have been sliding down the same slope Raider fans play on...for years. You DO recall the snowball on the field behavior? Trying to sabotage kickers? Did you chuckle? It's now become something of a dark tradition at INVESCO if there is snow in the bleachers. The announcer has to warn you jerks not to throw snowballs at players.

That's not classy. That's pathetic and sad.

It is what it is, and you are what you're doing today and not yesterday. The people of Colorado threw Shanahan and Cutler under a bus. You tried to do it to John Elway. Perhaps Bus Cooke engineered that also?

I don't want to share anything with people like that.

John Elway made me a Bronco fanatic. The so-called Denver fans and Jay Cutler made me a Chicago Bears fan.

People of Colorado threw Shannhan under a bus? Please tell me you're joking!

Shannahan is not far under Elway as far as the appreciation for him in this state.

I don't know when it will happen, but it probably will someday, Shannahan will get a huge standing ovation from a Mile High crowd that will be thunderous, I guarantee that.

Sorry, but I feel the more we talk the more you throw random things in just out of spite. That was a perfect example.

SBJay:

I will never support liars.

Mere days before Cutler was traded, Pat Bowlen came out and said that he called Jay several times in order to contact him and Cutler never answered or returned those calls.

Guess what? Jay came right out after that and said that Bowlen never tried to contact him. That was a flat out lie, because Bowlen has the phone records to prove it.

So much for your "values" huh?

Whatever makes you feel better boy. Bottom line, like your #1 WO and others to follow....Jay wanted OUT of the mess to come to the mile low city of denver. Hey get a clue kid, you don't trade away a 25 year old pro-bowl QB not even in his prime with possibilities of a long term franchise QB for anything, EVER! I can't find a team that has done this...EVER....not ONCE. Good luck with your 2 backup QBs at best Kyle and Chris. Hey the good part is you should get no more than 4 wins and be in the Tebow sweapstakes for sure next year!!!

Re: Meet Jay Cutler

Not getting to see a lot of Bronco games I unfortunately wasn't able to get a complete feel for Jay. Although my brother in law was nice enough to get me taped games of them and I am excited for the first time in a long time about the Bears quarterback position. With our passing game looking to be a legitimate threat it can only open our running game too. The added weapons giving the opposing defense much to think about has me going nuts for this season.
Thank the football gods for this move.

One question, what do you think this will do to the sale of Urlacher jerseys?

Re: Meet Jay Cutler

Yea i hear it all the time about the broncos, cant say i am not in agreement with them. it seems the team I loved is gone. Orton is a bore.
Re: Meet Jay Cutler

gregsbabe1:

Well I am new here, and let me say I have been a Broncos fan since I was 16. That said I have also always enjoyed the Bears. Looks like we are moving from Colorado to Chicago. I am nervous and excited. That said, I am not a Broncos fan that will try to dissuade from Loving Jay. I am a HUGE Jay fan, watching him was always so exciting. I am really disillusioned with the broncos right now. It seems to be going the NE way, which I am NOT a fan of. Anyway, you guys are so lucky to have Jay.He may not be Elway yet, but he will be someday. He is not the immature baby he Bronco fans make him out to be. I think that is thier way of dealing with the loss of him ( even if they wont admit it). I am sad to leave Denver, but glad to be moving to a city where I not only respect the fans ( which I have in the family as well) but have always liked the team. I will surely watch and root for the team. I will always love my Broncos, but I think there is plenty of room in me to love the Bears as well. Enjoy Jay, I cant wait to see him play again!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah......lol. And we ALL really love our ex-wives too, don't we? ROFL. You can still love her (I suppose....) but no one is really buying that when the new girl is hotter and better behaved than that old broken down donkey........errr, mare. I meant mare. I did.

   Really...

Rooting for the McBronco's is like rooting for a one-legged midget to win the sack race.

Not very fun or fulfilling, and everyone just laughs in your face.

Re: Meet Jay Cutler

Well I am new here, and let me say I have been a Broncos fan since I was 16. What an initial post, then follow up story. So what you're saying is that we Chicago Bears fans have, by far, the greatest QB to ever put on a Bears uniform? I'm down with that. Amazing explanation of your personal descent as a Broncos fan, and all that came with it. There have been times that McKaskey has pushed me to the limit too, but I could never pull the trigger.(although I did with Bill Wirtz in 2000. It is nice to have the Hawks back again).

As for:

"Denver had this once. But Colorado is no longer the same place I grew up in. The times they did a'change, and I am ashamed to say I grew up there now.

They treat people like crap there. I have no idea why. It's been that way for a very long time".

That statement confirms the transition I've been observing over the past 25 years in Colorado. If you disagree with the far-left liberal mindset of which Colorado has become, then in sports as in politics, you will be scorned, condemned, and apparently in your case, even "disowned". That's getting old too.

I joined up to comment on your thread, but I'm really here because I'm as fired up about an up coming Bears season as I've ever been. My moniker has nothing to do with interceptions, but rather who I hope to pick as the Bears greatest QB ever. I "PickSix".

GO BEARS!

Why thank you very much, Sir, for the accolades.

I've been getting a TON of love at this website. Truth to be told, I looked at my beautiful wife last night and said, "Honey, I kinda feel like maybe I WAS born rooting for orange and blue, ...I just had the wrong orange and blue team all along."

     She laughed.

Truth to be told, I haven't been this excited about football period in over 10 years. And the way these fans have treated me is just making it better, and better, and better.

On the other hand, what you said about the far-left fruitcakes taking over the state of Colorado is oh so true. When I was a kid growing up there, the hippies came up with a slogan they put on bumper-stickers. It read, "Don't Californianize Colorado". And then the stupid hippies that spewed that crap went right and did just exactly that.

I don't even bother to visit anymore.

But I sure can see the wife and I making a trip to the Windy City in the near future.....hehehehe!!!

     GO BEARS, BABY.........GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO BEARS, CUBS WIN

The plus side, you don't have to repaint your sports room. Like you said, orange and blue baby.
