Everyone:

There is now a chatroom available for use throughout the 2007 NFL season. This chatroom has been created and is operated by you friendly neighborhood Moderators. IT IS IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED OR AFFILIATED WITH THE CHICAGO BEARS. It will be made available a day before each pre-season, regular season and playoff game (we all know that’s where we’re heading) and shut down hours after each game ends. If you registered during the 2008 NFL draft, your authentication info is still active. There is also a password recovery option in case you forgot your password.

PLEASE use the same username you use in the forums, to eliminate confusion.

Also:

--You MUST have a valid e-mail address to register.

-- You must have working Java on your computer – this is a java based chat room. If you don’t have java, Google “java download” to download and launch it or “java test” to test your system.

--You can dock/size the chatroom to fit your PC or preference - I set up the chat room so as soon as you log in your chat room will be “floating”, and you can adjust the size at that point.

--We have a maximum amount of smileys and sounds installed - we can't add more, unless we build an addition, and it's already a big house, so, apologies.....

--This chatroom will be lightly moderated, just to keep things civil. It features a Private, Instant Messaging system as well.

--There is a "logout" link that will return you instantly to the forums.

We encourage all of our posters to login during the game and join other Bears Fans as this season kicks off tomorrow evening. This is going to be a blast and anything that brings this community of Bears Fans closer is a welcome addition.

THE CHAT ROOM IS NOW OPERATIONAL and WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL SUNDAY. Check it out if you’d like and familiarize yourself with the software or test your PC to make sure everything is working.

How to put pictures in your post/signature

Alright, so we have a lot of our posters asking how to put a picture in their post or signature, so here I will show you step by step on how to do this.

First, the picture has to be hosted. Usually you just right click on the image you want, click properties and then copy the URL.(if you don't know how to copy, you just drag over the url while clicking left mouse button, then right click over that and hit copy)

Ok so now that you have the URL of where the picture is hosted, you can use an img tag to show up in your post/sig.. Use the following code, but without the 3 periods in each bracket It will not work unless you take out the periods, they are just there so the tag will show without showing the picture

Here is the image when you do it without the periods...

IF the picture is not hosted, ie, it's downloaded on your desktop..Just use a host like photobucket.com...once you upload the code they usually give you the img tag anyways.

Do the same with your sig, only click on the top right of your screen where it says "profile", then click sig and bio and paste it right into the sig box and don't forget to click save. Just make sure the picture is not too big or else it will be taken down.

If you were wondering how to use bold text.. just do [b...]bold[/b..] without the periods.

MESSAGE BOARD RULES - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING A NEW THREAD

With the new season upon us, we are implementing some new rules for the message board that we hope our members will help out with to make the board a more enjoyable place for all. While we have no intention of banning people for violation of these rules, if someone is continuously violating them, we may consider a short suspension for that poster.

The Bears Football Forum is for Bears Football talk only. So please keep these rules in mind before posting here:

1. Before starting a new thread, check to see if that topic is being discussed first. If it is, please do not start a new thread on that topic. The constant starting of new threads keeps the main forum littered with thread after thread on the same topic. If a new thread is posted while that topic is already being discussed, the thread will be deleted. Anyone who was on the board during the Brett Favre Saga, will understand why we are asking the posters to PLEASE check to see if a topic is being discussed before starting a new thread. You can use the "search option" to see if the topic you want to start a new thread on has been recently discussed

2. All discussions regarding other NFL Teams should be placed in Rival Forum. There are a couple of exceptions to this. The team we are playing that week can be discussed in the main Bears Football Forum. Teams we are playing later in the season, or teams we are not playing at all, Please put in Rival Forum. Also, any legitimate trades that are being discussed on radio/tv can also be discussed in the main Bears Football trade, legitimate trades, not "So and So dropped this player, should we sign him"

3. Please, all qb threads in the qb forum. The qb forum was started due to the massive amounts of threads taking up the main football forum, so please put all qb discussion in the qb forum.

4. Any questions related to the message board, please pm the mods and do not start a thread. Please do not start threads that say "Why was my post/thread deleted" "Why do my posts need to be approved" All these are questions for the mods, so please send us a pm instead of starting a thread.

5. Graphics in your sig to be no larger then 175 pixels in height.

6. Any comments that you know are against the Code of Conduct, please utilize the "report abuse" button. We know some here do not want to feel like they are "telling" on each other, but no one knows you reported something and the mods will never tell a poster who reported them. The mods spend as much time as we can reading the threads, but is impossible for us to read every thread and post on this message board. So any help you can give us to keep the board clean/civil, would be appreciated. One final note, if you are suspended/banned/warned for something, and you see a poster doing the same thing, please do not assume it is because that poster is a "favorite" of the mods. More then likely we havn't seen the post/thread yet and it has not been reported to us.

These are simple rules, and we would really appreciate it if our members would help out in this situation. There have been times when the main board is so bogged down with the same thread (i.e Hester contract situation, Favre Trade situation) that the mods are getting pm's and complaints, and we are spending more time cleaning up the board then anything else. So please everyone, just keep these rules in mind before you post. Thank you.

There still seems to be a confusion as to where to post threads on specific subjects. So I'm going to make some examples of topics and where they go.

Hester grabbed and body slammed! gets posted in Chicago Bears Football. (since it's about a Bear player or team or coach)
Lions WR's get in a fight in lockeroom over who should get the ball most! gets posted in Rivals. (since it's about a rival of ours)
Green Bay QB gets wrestled to the ground by referee! See Above
Vikings swap QB again! See Above
Redskins lose again! gets posted in Around The NFL (since this is about a team or the NFL itself or a non-rival team)
Joe Dropsalotofpasses WR from Moose University is someone to watch in the 2nd round of the draft! gets posted in NFL Draft and College Football. (since it's about a college or college player or the draft itself)
Hey this joke is funny! gets posted in Fans First-Non Football General Discussion. (since it's off topic of football and for general talk)

You get the general idea. I don't mean this to belittle anyone, or make people sound dumb or anything. I'm only asking for your help to make our jobs easier, I thank you for your time and attention. Carry on! Go Bears!

How to create polls-101

It seems polls are a bit confusing the first time around so I'll try my best to explain the process.

start a thread as you normally would give it a topic such as "which player should the Bears target first?" (ignore the quotation marks I just added them to demondstrate an example of words)
You'll notice as you start a thread there's tabs above the message area where you would normally type a message.
You click the tab that says poll on it. //
the tab opens up, there's a checkbox that says "Include a Poll in this Post" beside it, you check this box, you'll see the poll expand.
To start the poll there is a area with "Question" beside it type your question into that box such as: "which player should the Bears target first?"
After creating the question you'll create answers, towards the bottom you'll see a box with "add answer" above it, you'll type the answers in this box 1 at a time hitting the "Add" button to the right of the box after every answer. You can add as much answers as you like.
when you're done adding the question and the answers you're ready to post, to post you just hit the "post" button as you would a normal post, keep in mind your poll must have a topic like a normal post does.

Your post should be up and running a tthis point, I did forget one thing, you'll notice a little box below the answers box that is an option to have the post expire after so many days. Just be sure to hit the "add" button after every answer and to give your post a topic.

Edit: you may have to put text in the compose tab topic and message area, according to staleyrulz that's how he finally got it to work.

I grew up near the GREATEST city in the world (Chicago) and I have been a Bears fan since birth! 29 years later, I find myself living in Romania and I desperately need to find out how to watch Bears games over here online. ANY or all help would be greatly apprciated as I hope someone out there can feel what it would be like to never be able to see a single game. Listening to radio just isnt the same.
