Someone needs to explain to me three things about this years draft ...

Can someone explain to me these three things concerning this years Bears draft ?

    1. Why do so many people have us drafting another running back in their mock drafts ? I can see a fullback but another halfback ! I know all about the old football addage that says you never have enough good runnings backs but I think we are relatively set at running back with Forte , Jones , and Wolfe . I think it is high time we quit drafting from strenghts and start drafting to fill our needs , and running back is not one of those needs .

    2. Why do so many people have us drafting two quarterbacks this year ? I know everyone would like a great quarterback in the Peyton Manning , Tom Brady , Carson Palmer mold but I for one think that Orton can do a solid job . We also have Hanie who we are hopefully developing for the future . I can see one quarterback but two ,again not with all our other needs .

    3. Unlike baseball ,and basketball football always seems to be changing some crazy rule so I am not sure of the rule , but I thought that any underclassmen even if they declare had to be a four year junior to be eligible for the draft . My question is why do so many people have prospects like Knowshon Moreno , Matt Stafford , Andre Smith , and many others who were either  freshman or sophmores last year in their drafts this year ?

Any comments will be appreciated especially about the underclassmen .

    1. i don't know... but KJ only has a 1-year-contract and could be leaving for a starting job...

    2. I don't know either.. the stupidity of some people surprises me more and more... ;)

    3. you don't even have to go to a college to be eligible for the draft. you only have to be three years away from highschool! bradford and moreno are redshirt sophomores what makes them eligible
    have a nice day

I haven't seen anyone having us draft a RB.

In the draft I put together I had us drafting a QB in the 2nd and in the 7th. Why? Because the position is a huge weakness for us. And Hanie may  end up being great but at this point he's had one good preseason vs mostly 3rd string players. The way I see it, if you draft a guy in the 7th you can have him an Hanie compete and if he doesn't beat out hanie you put him on the PS. We have to have development there.

    1. what happens if Forte were to go down for an extended period of time. no gaurantee KJ is back next year and i would hate to see them have to go 4+ games with AP and Wolfe as their guys. Plus u take the best available player instead of drafting for need

    2.  Gotta find a qb somehow. Hanie looks ok but if he becomes a solid backup qb the Bears should be more than happy. Plus u take the best available player instead of drafting for need

    3. i see someone already explained this

    1. As many have pointed out, KJ may not be back if he isn't happy with the amount of playing time he's getting. Wolfe doesnt seem like an every down type backup, so we need a 2nd stringer if Jones leaves.

    2. Orton, Hanie, draft pick, then another draft pick for the practice squad? If we have an extra late pick, we might just try it.

    3. People already answered that, but a player just has to be out of high school for 3 years, so Redshirt Sophomores are eligible.

If you can't protect the QB don't draft him. The best move for the Bears is to fix the offensive line and add depth to the other positions. Build a solid foundation then draft the QB. S this year is the year to draft a good pulling Guard a strong FB(6'2-245) that can block and catch. Two wide receivers to stretch the field

Add depth on the defense side a good FS with range to replace Brown. An OLB on the strong side that can cover the RB and TE, better CBs for depth and another KR in case Hester goes down

Keep in mind Chris Williams and Dan Buenning haven't seen the field yet.  Those two on the left side, and a Garza/Beekman/St. Clair competition for the right guard spot should improve the line later this year or on paper for next year (minus St. Clair as a free agent).  They'll have room to make a signing or two in free agency, which could be a starter on the line, a receiver, or some other position of need.

If the scouting staff starts eating their Wheaties now, they can get a quarterback, center/guard, and tackle within the first four or five rounds, plus a fair runningback and receiver somewhere.
