    my first 09 mock.

From what ive seen so far this season we will probably end up with 7, 8, or 9 wins. bout the same as last year. running game is alot better so far but the lack of a consistent passing game is goin to hold us back at the end of games when its close and we need to score as weve seen in week 2 and 3.

we should go into the draft with offensive explosiveness as our top prioty. we have a solid running game but still need a lil work on the o-line. Forte is going to be a great back for us with all that he brings to the table and hopefully he can get 20 carries a game for us for the next decade but if you look at the league rite now all the successful running teams usually have a tandem where both the running backs benefit from each other ( much like what we had with thomas jones and benson in 06...they both looked alot better that year with a tandem than they did the year after when they were carrying the load for seperate teams.)...with that being said we could deffinatley use a decent running back who can stretch the feild a little better than forte and get us about 10 carries a game.

Recievers: we have some pretty solid guys rite now ...hester is a deepthreat and a decoy when hes on the feild...bennet is hopefully goin to develop into a good possesion reciever in this league ...and weve got some pretty decent slot guys like davis and loyd. our tight ends are some of the best in the league and they should deffinately be used in the passing game a little more often. ( olsen cant fumble tho , hes gotta get that worked out ) the one thing we could use in our receiving core is a big guy with soft hands and great speed to go along with it , a # 1 go to reciever is about all that this group is missing.

    FREE AGENTS & TRADES

QB: Kurt Warner , Mark Bulger , or Derek Anderson

Warner is old but he still looks like hes having a blast playing the game and putting up big numbers. I think Bulger is still a pretty decent Qb and just on a bad team. Derek Anderson has got some talent around him but everything for him is goin wrong so i wouldnt be surprised to see quinn get some snaps soon and Anderson gets traded in the offseason.

The main reason for getting one of these guys is so that we can draft a quality qb for once and have him sit behind a quality vet. and learn for a year or two before we just throw him into the fire. ( aaron rodgers ...didnt work out so bad for the pack ...I still f-n hate them all tho =] )

WR : Roy williams... pay the man whatever it takes to get him hear.... he would fit the team well as the # 1 reciever ... an unselfish super talented team player with alot of experience and i thinks hes pretty young too.

Mock DRAFT ! : we will be around the 16 pick or so.

RD 1 ) Duke robinson , OG.... solidify the o-line with a great talent like Duke

RD 2) C.J. spiller , RB.... he could be the lightning to matt forte's thunder... hes a decent ( 5'10, 200 lbs) sized rb with great speed and he will probably drop to the 2nd round because of the talent at this position at the top of the draft... this would cause us to cut one of our current rb ( a.p.) ...smith could be a great 3rd string / power back for us and that would still leave us with garrett for special teams and as a scat back.

RD 3) Curtis painter , Qb ... hopefully this guy is there in the third...has all the tools to be a great qb in the nfl and hopefully we can sit him behind a solid vet for a couple of years and let him master the offensive system. some other qb options at this point would be ...Cullen harper , Mark sanchez , Hunter cantwell, or Josh Freeman...etc.

RD 4) Sam young , OT... big boy at 6'7 who could sit behind tait for a year and be a solid RT in the nfl.

RD 5) Brian Orakpo , DE... He is a great athlete that might fall this far ... we could use an extra pass rusher.

RD 6) Lovon Ponder , S... good athlete outa the U that has the skill set to be a great special teams player and decent S if he stays healthy.

RD 7) Brannan southerland , FB... can do anything you would want outta a fullback but his production has droped off thx to all the good running backs at georgia.

I think a T is a better choice at 16. I'm assuming a guy like Andre Smith is going to be available there. If he isn't robinson isn't a bad choice. I don't see the need for Spiller. We have wolfe if we need a third down back. I'm not a huge fan of Painter.

    Re: my first 09 mock.

duke robinson's great but another tackle in the first round would be for the best. If garrett wolfe doesnt come along this year then we cut him and draft spiller, but if wolfe starts to perform then spiller is not needed. If we take a qb then it needs to be in the first, we need top of the line talent at that spot and a 3rsd rounder won't do it, as much as i like painters talent, he seems way too streaky.
