No way... he's got a long way to go before he's NFL material.

Looks pretty good today, though... go Illini!

    Worst poster of 2008:
-Well the votes have been tabulated based on thousands of stupid posts here in 2008. The winner of the worst poster of 2008 goes to "Hester For QB" for hundreds of inane threads and lame nicknames he gives other teams and their players. He also claims to be 56 years old and born in 1955. I think that would make you 53 not 56. Doesn't even know his own age. He truly deserves this award

I'd be suprised if he gets drafted - as a QB, anyway.

Re: Juice Williams goes in the 1st?

He could be an interesting #2 if you had a solid #1.  He could be used like Randel El, the guy definitely can run.

He is definitely gashing Michigan with some wide open guys, especially deep.  Just don't see him putting it in the tight windows.

Re: Juice Williams goes in the 1st?

I don't see him going in the first or second round but I would have no problem spending a 3rd on him.  He has size at 6'2 235, he has a very strong arm...is getting a lot better at putting touch on his passes and....he can flat out run.

Now, with that being said, he does have a long way to go to be an nfl caliber qb but he does have all the tools.  He is exciting to watch and I am looking forward to see how he develops.

Lets see....we have a Bafoon in charge of our offense with ties to Illinois... I do not believe even for a minute Orton or Grossman will be back next year.... We will be lookin fer a few qb's. 1st round??? Don't hold your breath. 4th or 5th maybe.

Re: Juice Williams goes in the 1st?

Well, he just put up over 430 total yards himself...  (310 passing, 121 rushing)  so if he keeps progressing like he has so far this season (and his career), I could see a team taking a flier on him in the late first, early second round.

Sure, he's an option QB, has sort of a run first, throw second mentality, but he can throw a pretty good ball also.  Put a guy like that in the right offense and with the right coaching staff and you could have a dynamic franchise QB in a couple years.

He makes pretty good decisions out there (11 td's - 6 int's in 142 attempts), and has similar measurables to Donovan McNabb (also from chicago).  Both are 6'2"; Both about 235-240; Both ran 4.4 - 4.5 in the 40;  both have big play ability both on the ground and through the air;  etc etc.

You have to remember, he's still a junior.  As long as he sticks around for his senior year and continues to progress like he has been, I see no reason why he doesn't go on day 1 of the draft...  and as a QB.  If he declares after this year however, he's going to have to put up similar numbers to what he put up today (with a little better completion%) in most of the remaining games to avoid going in the middle to late rounds.

Re: Juice Williams goes in the 1st?

As much as I love the guy and I love my illini there is no way that he goes in the first round... or even first day. He makes a lot of really bad decisions and misses a lot of open guys and can't really fit it into tight spaces consistently.

If he leaves now he might even go undrafted. I think that he should stay for his senior year (not just because I want to be able to see him play more). He does seem to have a really good arm on him, so if he can just get some accuracy and better decision making he could be a good choice in the 3rd-5th or something like that (sort of like a dennis dixon if he could be a better passer)

No he's going to be the next Andre Woodson.. he's gonna get hype but not go in the draft for awhile. That's my prediction.

so why would Orton be gone next year?  that wouldnt make sense.   that would leave them with Hanie and a draft pick or 2.  that would be... well, dumb.

i was a 2nd string WR in junior high so... yeah, i know a thing or 2 about football.

Just my opinion....Orton will try the open market. That is why it is there. Grossman after this fiasco sure wont be sticking around. So that leaves Orton to fight for a starting job again next year??? Nah....i think he's had about as much of this nonsense as he will be able to take for quite some time. Then again....who knows...Maybe the Bears are the only team in the league that is willing to have a second rate qb as their starter :)

he reminds me of a certain other qb that came from the university of texas and plays for the titans, except a bit less talented than said texas player

Re: Juice Williams goes in the 1st?

Juice is phenomenal and such a fun player to watch.  However, as others have said, he's far from being a polished college QB (although you couldn't tell that from this afternoon's game, that's for sure), let alone NFL calibre.  He has more power in a pinky than Orton has in his whole arm, but has the tendency to drill it with way too much force when it's not necessary.  He's such an incredible athlete though, so even if he doesn't cut it as a QB in the NFL, he could probably be transitioned to another position.  My bet, like others, is a mid to late pick (unless he keeps playing like this the rest of his collegiate career) with 2-3 years development time.

ya no way 1st round. Great college QB with great talent. Maybe he will be a late round pick. Should go in the 5th or 6th round.

Re: Juice Williams goes in the 1st?

Juice Williams, not a first rounder.

However, from what I have seen Terrell Pryor could end up as a first rounder.  I like what I have seen so far.  His arm strength, decision making and accuracy are impressive for a true freshman.  His size, athletic ability and opportunity to play early should help him to become a top talent by the time he is draft ready.  I hate Ohio State but this kid looks like he is the real deal.  Reminiscent of McNabb, has the physical ability to scramble and run but has the arm that he doesnt really have to all that much.  My prediction, Pryor is the first overall pick of 2011.
