Watch Bears Games From Germany - Help?
I just got word that my boss is sending me to Germany on September 13th, meaning I will miss the Bears @ Green Bay Season Opener . Can anyone help me with advice on methods of watching the game (Although at 4 A.M. there)?
I considered quitting my job (seriously) but in lieu of the economy...probably not the best option. Dear Lord I hate traveling for work; and it always picks up during football season!

Re: Watch Bears Games From Germany - Help?
Its the national sunday night game on NBC, so all you need is a place that plays NBC,, which shouldn't be very hard, and while don't know how TV works in germany, hard to imagine you can't get NBC in europe

If you have a good internet connection, there are streaming videos of games available for non-US markets.

Most hotels have a standard access to foreign channels but it's often
international programs (CNN, BBC World). May be if it's a US company
hotel you could have a larger selection.

While I was drinking my coffee yesterday afternoon, the layer of froth clearly formed the head of a Bronco, then it dispersed and all what remained was C around the edge of the cup... Then past night, I had a strange dream in which I saw this Looks like the owls are not what they seem...

Meine Gute! Das ist ein grosses problem.
I hear you man. I had tickets lined up for the Bears/broncos preseason game but now my work is sending me to Alaska.
If you have Directv Superfan, you can stream the game online through Directvs service. I have never done it (but likely will this year), so I cant vouch for quality.

NFL Game Rewind or NFL Game Pass in Germany. I'm not 100% sure how it works during the season but you can watch the game commercial free after they are played.

Re: Watch Bears Games From Germany - Help?
Find a bar that has the Sky Sports NFL Package. That's how I watched the Bears in Amsterdam a couple of years ago. Since it's a night game you'll have trouble with the time difference, (mine was a noon game that I watched at 7PM AMS time), however the bar also offered to tape the game so I could watch it later too.
Going to do the same thing again in August, hoping that they'll get the Bears/Broncs preseason game over there. Doubtful as it's preseason but I'm still going to ask.

Re: Watch Bears Games From Germany - Help?
Living in London now, so I've got experience with this problem: A) Slingbox - you need an internet connection and a box back home, but a great solution if you can set it up B) NFL game pass - $150-250 (Just Bears or all games) - again need an internet connection. One problem is that games shown on local TV are blacked out - maybe not a problem in Germany, but it is in London with the Bears being very popular here (I might miss the 5 primetime games & stupid NFL won't tell you in advance which games you're missing) The upside of this: well, if it's shown locally and you're in Germany, heck go to the local pub and have a stein and cheer for Das Bears. C) Bootleg broadcasts - sites like Justin.tv and others will have live streaming broadcasts, but the quality can be questionable and it's a gamble whether it gets shut down/interupted, etc. Similarly, there are a bunch of P2P sites & software out there. D) Sportsbar - again, you're in Germany, enjoy the beer - it's especially strong during Okoberfest, and the durndl could be the hottest thing you've ever seen a girl wear E) Last resort - Internet Radio - WBBM will have some of the games, but the NFL is shutting down a lot of streams, so they can sell the crap to you. If you're smart, you can find internet radio in podunk towns that the NFL hasn't caught up with yet. F) Satellite - Not sure what's on offer in Deutschland or how many games you'll get throughout the year H) Have a friend send you a tape of the games, and avoid the web until it arrives
The NFL.com, will have some of the Sunday Night games for free - at least they did last year - but shockingly, their service is unreliable as well.
Good Luck, whatever you choose - try winning Euromillions and flying home for every game on your G5
GO BEARS!!!!

Re: Watch Bears Games From Germany - Help?
Thanks, I'll have to check out the Slingbox but in my experience the internet has always been iffy where we are going and not cheap either. Perhaps my only option is to watch a DVR version when I get back but that hardly stands up to watching it live.

Re: Watch Bears Games From Germany - Help?
Since you don't live in Germany just DVR it. As you are coming back from Germany keep your fingers in you ears and first thing coming home watch the game.

Re: Watch Bears Games From Germany - Help?
Say this threes times, and it will magically appear on your screen in Germany:
"Wir haben Pflichtmitten in der Heineplatz." (There is sauerkraut in my Lederhosen.)
Let's just say that the winner shall be a certain team, from a certain Mid-western town, that starts with a "C", ends with an "O", and in the middle is "HICAG".
