BearArrah2:I often think about how Anderson would be rated today if he had the benefit of the medical advances of the last decade and half or so available to him when he was playing. For a guy who stepped into the shoes of sweetness, he made a pretty good statement until that knee injury.
We couldn't have asked for anything more from a guy stepping into the role left by the Greatest RB of all-time. Neal was so awesome in his own right. We were lucky to have him.
I can see the future: "Cutler drops back, steps up in the pocket... going DEEP to Hester! And its caught at the 20, 15, 10, 5, touchdown! Touchdown Bears! Cutler to Hester is becoming the premier long ball connection in the NFL... wow, these guys are special!" Member of the Official CBMB Jay Cutler Fan Club #65

It was the only Bears jersey I ever found in France in 1988. He was a really good RB.

While I was drinking my coffee yesterday afternoon, the layer of froth clearly formed the head of a Bronco, then it dispersed and all what remained was C around the edge of the cup... Then past night, I had a strange dream in which I saw this Looks like the owls are not what they seem...

Wow, that is random. I have never had a thought that included Neal Anderson, 1988, and France.
Pretty cool tho!

you said it. Neal was great in his own right. To follow Payton and then to actually do well? greatness.

cool video - thanks a bunch. Anderson is one of my favorite backs and we have had some pretty good ones.

cd35: parieken:Finally somebody gets some video of this guy! Great post...thanks. This website doesn't even have Anderson in the vid archive...and i've requested it.
Yea I noticed that it seems Neal hardly even exists on the internet. No videos and when you google him there's hardly anything so I figured I'd make a video. It's a shame bc skillwise he was as good or better than most backs. Probably the best receiving back ever. His only flaw was he took a lot of hits.
I agree completely.. If he were able to play longer he'd be comparable to Thurman Thomas. I would even argue that Anderson at his best was better than Thomas at his best, simply because Anderson didn't have the supporting cast of a Jim Kelly and Andre Reed to take away some of the defensive focus. Also, he was the best blocking RB of his era...and we all know Harbaugh needed some help in that department.

Actually Neal's career ending was the start of the 10 year slide for the Bears. That combination of Neal retiring and Wannestaedt arriving was really bad. Although even during that horrible streak they still managed to not only get to the playoffs 1 year, but actually won a playoff game in '94.

I was too young to watch Walter live, but when I started watching the Bears religiously with my Grandfather Neal was my guy. I still remember that game he had against the Giants in 1992. That trademark dive for the pylon in the endzone sealing that game was just awesome. I remember cutting the picture it out of the newspaper and putting it up in my locker. Thank you very much for this video.
cool the dive was at 9:20. thanks again

cd35:Glad you guys enjoyed it, especially since I didnt have a clue what I was doing. Luckily the program I used was easy. Nice to see there are still people who appreciate Neal. He's my favorite of all time. I posted this at one other Bears site and it's gotten absolutely no replies, ha.
hehe... like my avatar?
