    Neal Anderson Video

I just made this video and figured I'd share it. It's in mp4 format for ipods. It's actually pretty long, about 15 minutes so I couldnt put it on youtube. Anyway, enjoy one of the most under appreciated players ever.

Thanks dude! Watching it right now... started off awesome, then you put a horrible song by Bush of all bands... why?
I hope there is better music coming up...

ha, I kind of thought the same thing but I like the song and it fit. The other songs are Tom Petty Running down a dream, I wont back down, and and 7 nation army by the White Stripes. It ends with a Ditka voice over..ha

I often think about how Anderson would be rated today if he had the benefit of the medical advances of the last decade and half or so available to him when he was playing. For a guy who stepped into the shoes of sweetness, he made a pretty good statement until that knee injury.

Its a shame that his career got cut short, he would have been a perennial pro bowler, he already had 4 in that short career.

We couldn't have asked for anything more from a guy stepping into the role left by the Greatest RB of all-time. Neal was so awesome in his own right. We were lucky to have him.

Neal was a hell of a runner.  Thanks for the video, great stuff.  Really enjoyed watching Neal and Brad Muster, now that was a great backfield combo.

It was the only Bears jersey I ever found in France in 1988. He was a really good RB.

Wow, that is random. I have never had a thought that included Neal Anderson, 1988, and France.

    Pretty cool tho!

Great compilation! I think this video does an excellent job of showcasing  his speed and just how important he was to the Bears offense.  Man the Packers must have hated that guy; seemed like he had a lot of big plays against them.

you said it.  Neal was great in his own right.  To follow Payton and then to actually do well?  greatness.

He was a reagood back who will forever be overshadowed. He is one of those guys who will never get his due.

After Anderson, it was a long dry spell at RB until last year except for maybe Ultraback.

cool video - thanks a bunch. Anderson is one of my favorite backs and we have had some pretty good ones.

Great Video! Neal was my favorite player from middle school to high school. This video really shows how good he was. I've forgotten all those plays over the years. His style is very reminiscent of Walter's, only not quite as much tenacity and a much shorter career. Neal deserves much respect, he gave great effort and was very multi faceted like his predecessor. It was a shame his career was cut short, he was exciting to watch. Thanks for posting.

Yea I noticed that it seems Neal hardly even exists on the internet. No videos and when you google him there's hardly anything so I figured I'd make a video. It's a shame bc skillwise he was as good or better than most backs. Probably the best receiving back ever. His only flaw was he took a lot of hits.

I agree completely.. If he were able to play longer he'd be comparable to Thurman Thomas. I would even argue that Anderson at his best was better than Thomas at his best, simply because Anderson didn't have the supporting cast of a Jim Kelly and Andre Reed to take away some of the defensive focus. Also, he was the best blocking RB of his era...and we all know Harbaugh needed some help in that department.

Actually Neal's career ending was the start of the 10 year slide for the Bears.  That combination of Neal retiring and Wannestaedt arriving was really bad.  Although even during that horrible streak they still managed to not only get to the playoffs 1 year, but actually won a playoff game in '94.

    Re: Neal Anderson Video

Neal Anderson was a great running back for our beloved Bears and should be held in high regard.  It is a shame that he happened to have followed a legend in Walter Payton.  We had been spoiled by what Walter gave us for so long but That shouldn't have taken away from what Neal brought to the table.  Had he not gotten hurt who knows how long he would have played or how many yards he would have gained.

    Re: Neal Anderson Video

Anderson following Payton didn't diminish him in my mind. In fact, when they shared the backfield in 1987...I thought Anderson showed that Payton had lost a step. It was time for a change and Payton knew it was his time to step aside. I always looked at it as 'wow' the Bears really know how to find running backs...the QB issues and the D and o-line deteriorating started the Bears decline.

The Bears need to bring Anderson back to Soldier at some point and recognize him...not saying retire his # or anything. But he is 2nd in all-time rushing yards for a franchise that had Payton, Sayers and Grange.

That video was great.  Neal did nothing fancy, just ran like a bat out of hell and that's what I like about him.

I was too young to watch Walter live, but when I started watching the Bears religiously with my Grandfather Neal was my guy.  I still remember that game he had against the Giants in 1992.  That trademark dive for the pylon in the endzone sealing that game was just awesome.  I remember cutting the picture it out of the newspaper and putting it up in my locker.  Thank you very much for this video.

cool the dive was at 9:20.  thanks again

Glad you guys enjoyed it, especially since I didnt have a clue what I was doing. Luckily the program I used was easy. Nice to see there are still people who appreciate Neal. He's my favorite of all time. I posted this at one other Bears site and it's gotten absolutely no replies, ha.
