Re: WED BEAR NEWS AND TWEETS

Sunday's game against the Lions would appear to provide the ideal opponent to jump-start Forte, considering he ran for 126 yards on 22 carries the last time the teams met. But that was the same Lions team that finished 0-16 and did not put up much of fight.

This year's version of the Lions broke a 19-game skid last week against the Redskins and held running back Clinton Portis to 42 yards on 12 attempts. The Lions somewhat limited Vikings star Adrian Peterson to 92 yards in Week 2. New Lions coach Jim Schwartz's defense ranks 16th against the run, a big jump from last season under now-Bears defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.

"I know they're running a new defense," Kreutz said of the Lions. "We want to run the ball on everybody. We say coming into the game that we can run the ball on everybody, but that hasn't happened yet. We have to get it going. We just have to."

Extra point: The Bears re-signed linebacker Darrell McClover to add depth at the position, with Hunter Hillenmeyer (rib) and Pisa Tinoisamoa (sprained knee) nursing injuries. To make room for McClover, the Bears released cornerback DeAngelo Smith.

    Bears re-sign Darrell McClover

    By Vaughn McClure

The Bears must not be overly concerned about their linebacker situation after re-signing reserve Darrell McClover Tuesday. The Bears made room for McClover by releasing cornerback DeAngelo Smith.

McClover is more of a special teams contributor than a player capable of contributing on defense, which would indicate the Bears are confident Hunter Hillenmeyer's rib injury is not too serious. Pisa Tinoisamoa is also due back from a knee sprain, possibly as soon as Sunday's home game vs. Detroit.

Adding McClover also decreased the chance the Bears would look to a veteran such as Derrick Brooks.

I'm really glad the Lions won this week so this is no need to hear whispers about what if the Bears are "the ones" who allow the streak to be snapped. Thanks, Washington!!!

    det news:

Next step is starting a winning streak

    By NICHOLAS J. COTSONIKA
    FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER

It’s the morning after the Lions’ big 19-14 victory over the Redskins, the one that snapped their epic 19-game losing streak, and it’s time to take a sober look at one theme that might have been overlooked amid Sunday’s hubbub.

Coach Jim Schwartz was almost sheepish as he opened his postgame news conference. This was the first thing he said: “We’d like to get to a point where a regular-season win isn’t celebrated that much. It had the feel of a post-season win, the jubilation, the monkey off the back.”

Schwartz gets it. He knows how much snapping the losing streak meant, even if he didn’t want to dwell on the streak as it dragged on. That’s why he sent the players back onto the field after the game to thank the remaining fans.

But he also knows snapping the losing streak was just the first step, that the real goal is to build a championship team. That’s probably why he didn’t admit at first that sending the players back onto the field was his idea.

Re: WED BEAR NEWS AND TWEETS

Detriot to me is this year's version of the 49ers last season. They aren't going to be great BUT they are capable of some stunners.

Stafford is doing much better than I thought and he isn't even really on track yet. Their defense definitely has improved though they are still having brain farts in key situations. If they get to 7-9, its a major accomplishment in my book.

So I'm really hoping the Bears dont sleep on them this Sunday. We know last year the defense had been known to fall asleep against teams we were projected to beat quite easily. But this is a good chance for the OLine to prove they can protect Culter against an average defense. If they get a sack or alot of hurries on Jay, its gonna be another nail bitter cause that means the run game is gonna get stalled again.

Good teams find ways to win games. Bad teams find ways to lose them.

Wonder what Turner had to say to Hester at the end of the soundbite? You see him tap Hes on the shoulder as they turn.

yp they are FINALLY on right path and honestly glad for it, its been too depressing to even talk smack with the lion fans, no team deservbed what millen did to them. glad they are at least  showing signs, and agree they probably go 4-12 or 5-11 this year, but that's a huge step up for them

And as said a few times YOU NEVER Sleep on divsion rivals no matter how bad they are, we as fans can talk smack and ahve fun- but teams never do and because play 2X a year, never take them lightly you see them too often to do that

ZachZaidman Cutler has had back-to-back games with a 100+ passer rating. His teams are 12-0 when he has a 100+ passer rating

ZachZaidman Bears are 15-5 when Charles Tillman has an interception. He has 3 career picks vs DET, including 2 for TDs

ZachZaidman From the first game to the third game, Stafford's single gamepasser rating improved 60.4 points (24.7 at NO compared to 87.8 vs. WAS).

I hope the team does not rush Pisa back. With Pisa healthy the LB core should be fine down the stretch.

Lance Briggs is playing great football and its been a joy watching him step up.

You are a very sad HUMAN if you have a problem with them wearing pink cleats. This is for a great cause and you want them to show dignity? I think they are showing all the dignity in the world by doing this. If one person is saved by them wearing pink cleats then its all worth it.

LOL please explain how wearing pink shoes saves lives.. because it this is true and you can show the board- im all for for all shoe compnaies ONLY making pink shoes and we can rid the world of cancer- its a great win/win and the BILLIOSN saved in annual medical cost can really hlep the gov't now

So PLEASE show me how wearing pink cleats 'savs"a  person. thanks!

I think breast awareness a good cause, AS SAID THINK PSA's a good idea and even pins, but think there is a LINE to draw and do not see how pik shoes "saves a thing..

but i'll let you explain to me how *exactly* pink cleats saves lives... i'm waiting to be educated on this

If wearing pink shoes makes people more aware of breast cancer then yes it saves lives, plain and simple. A 30 second PSA doesn't have the same effect of someone wearing pink shoes for 3 HOURS.

Re: WED BEAR NEWS AND TWEETS

Guess we shall agree to disagree that 'pink shoes" makes people "aware of breast cancer".. i'm 100% sure anyone with a TV is aware of breast cancer. and pink shoes will help with that

and i'll also disgaree strongly that because of a pink shoe, even if they had never heard of breast cancer before( which I doubt), somehow "saves" lives. you stil haven;t explained the Correlation of  a pink shoe to saving a life.. Are you saying if we as a society on sunday  collectively look at pink shoes it will magically make people with life threaning cancer be saved? i'm not sure i buy that premise, sorry

and maybe jus me but do think an educational PSA explainging HOW you can donate to the cause, or how you can help with breast cancer volunteering  MUCH more effective and relevant than pink shoes..

You've answered the question yourself.  You are talking about it.  It has obviously drawn a hell of a lot more attention than your suggestion of 'wearing a pin.'  It's not about the shoes actually raising money, it's about creating awareness.  Every person tuning into a game will see the pink cleats and think of the cause.  If you can't understand that, you are helpless.

    dbears54:
and maybe jus me but do think an educational PSA explainging HOW you can donate to the cause, or how you can help with breast cancer volunteering  MUCH more effective and relevant than pink shoes.

The shoes will be talked about frequently and viewers will be made aware of how to donate.  This makes every televised game a PSA.  Again, it's not about thinking people don't know about breast cancer, it's about calling attention to it.

dbears, Im kinda disapointed in you, Wearing pink shoes, Is not gonna affect how the bears play. Nor make them look ***. the breast cancer awareness chose pink a long time ago. So I dont see why people are really tweaking over such a small issue, I mean, as long as its for a good cause. Im ok with it, especially since gregs mom had cancer.

But btw update on Jay Cutlers watch, doing the numbers

(100 every completion/1 thousand every td)

in the three games Jay Cutler has earned the charity about 12,500 dollers.

Yes people know of Breast Cancer but i would think a high number of people either don't know or forgot that October is Breast Cancer Awarness month. And if this helps people remember about it then yes it could save lives buy getting more people to donate money, for women to get checked regularly or give themselves their own exam, etc. And in my opinion a 30 second PSA doesn't do anything. The football game will be a 3 hour PSA and i am sure during commercials and during the game they will tell you how to donate money or volunter your services for this cause.
