Packer fans give favre the finger and boo hard..

So much for that "cheering their hero".. or staying classy..And there sure were ALOT of VIKE FANS in that crowd.. guess the bandwagon really crashing to seel those tickets to viek fans..

Minnesota Vikings' Brett Favre enjoys 'satisfying' return to Lambeau Field

On the bus ride — the long, strange bus ride for Brett Favre — to Lambeau Field on Sunday, Ryan Longwell noticed a sign in store window a few blocks from the stadium.

It read: “Welcome back Ryan Longwell.”

I always thought, ‘man the visiting team, that’s a long ways to come,’” Favre said. “I used to drive a mile, and I was here. It didn’t seem weird until I got around De Pere. Then everything was real familiar to me, obviously. Came up Ridge (Road), I saw a mixture of everything — cheers, a couple of fingers, some people not mooning but (pretending), and I was like, ‘OK this is where that came from.’ That part of it seemed a little weird.”

Exactly.  The high and mighty Packer fans...when all is said and done...is largly comprised of ignorant fans who don't appreciate what Favre did for that sad franchise.

Always has been dink , but madden and the media dopes, tried to mythicize soemthign they never were( a fanbase that killed the dog of their coach when he was losing). I said didn't mater who won yesterday and if Vikes won we still control our own destiny, so fine with it.

Find it funny how a thread about the very small boo's at soldier is needed after all the boo's at lameblow tells me , how much it must have hirt and bothered some. just made my monday.. : )

Yeah, especially after there were some trying to convince everyone here that Favre would be "welcomed back with open arms" and "there may be a few boos, but overall it is going to be supportive of Favre."

I'm sure now the story will change to "I meant when they retire his jersey."  But, that's not at all what the posts were.  They guaranteed Favre would be welcomed back by the majority of fans.

That wasn't the case at all.  I would estimate 70% of that stadium was booing, 20% were Vikings fans and the other 10% were arguing with their wife/sister about who gets to wear the stupid cheese hat and hold the "We'll miss you Bert" sign.

    From:
    http://thewisconsinsportsbar.blogspot.com/2008/08/myth-of-dan-devines-dog.html

I was working on post over at my place when I decided to research a reference that I wanted to make about the angry Packer fan that killed Dan Devine's dog. What I found shows how hard it is to kill an urban legend because even though I'd heard this before, I'd forgotten and defaulted back to the urban legend of the story. So I decided that this just might be a good time to bring the real story back into the light.

Devine offered a detailed explanation in his autobiography, published in 2000. He acknowledged that his dogs wandered freely and created mischief; one turned up wounded during hunting season and was nursed back to health.

“Rumors circulated that some disgruntled fans or anti-Devine people had shot my dog,” he said in the book. “I honestly don’t believe that was what happened.”

“We weren’t so lucky with another one of our dogs,” Devine continued. “It was only a couple days later, ironically, when the dog wandered over to a nearby farm and began chasing the farmer’s ducks. The farmer, a neighbor who we knew very well, fired a gun at the dog, intending to scare him and get him away from his ducks. Well, the bullet happened to hit the dog and killed him. He had every right to shoot at the dog, and he knew it and I knew it."

That dog story is one that I think most Packer fans still have wrong, thanks in part to the media, but also thanks in part to Devine himself, who originally told it to TIME.

well as devine FIRST HIMSELF SAID THE FANS KILLED IT.. i'll go with what devine said..that he "recants" years later that version tells a different version-  more about being Nice and PC than it not happening.. who knows? I'm just not buying a person changing stories years later as it being the truth, when he was the one originally saying the fans killed it

I don't know about the legitimacy of the "fans killed his dog" story, but that there sounds a bit fishy.  If you want to scare a dog with a gun you shoot it in the air, you don't aim at the dog.  C'mon, the only reason the dog got shot was because whoever shot at it was aiming at it with the intent to imbed some lead in it.

If you haven't already, read the second link which has the neighbor crying carrying the dog back to Devine.  I agree, why would you shoot at the dog if you intended to scare it?  But still, the folklore behind the story is as if a bunch of Packer fans went nutso and killed his dog to send him a message.  It was his neighbor and the dog was on his property.  Right or wrong, albeit according to Devine understandable, it's a completely different version than what is perceived, especially given the actual timing of the killing.  But dbears will go on telling the fabrication.

What is even funnier is the Packer fans that were also booing their own team!

When they were down in the first half, they were really giving it to poor Rodgers.  That guy just can't win!

Not only does he have to deal with Favre coming back and lighting it up, but his own fans boo him as well.  Talk about a slap in the face.  He seems to have a pretty fragile ego.  I wonder if this will be the breaking point for him?

I think Packer fans were just spoiled by Favre.  They forgot what it was like to have a crappy qb (like they had for the many many years between Starr and Favre).

Now they are getting to see it again and are taking it out on Rodgers.

Granted he's not as crappy as some pre-Favre, but he's definitely nothing special.  The problem is, you surround an average QB with crap, and you get to see how average they are.  Favre was able to overcome the ineptitude of Packer management.  Rodgers will never be able to do that!  Hence his career losing record.

But Packer fans disrespect the only decent qb they've had in forty years, so I guess I don't expect them to treat Rodgers any differently!  But you'd think they would at least wait until he isn't in a game trying to compete directly with Favre.
