Is this a must win season for Lovie Smith?

I feel that Lovie Smith is on dangerous ground this year. The fact he went to a Super Bowl this decade is starting to wear off. There are mulitple ex-head coaches out on the market that I feel that can give the Bears the persona that they need. The soft spoken and everything will be okay attitude has wore me out. I miss the days of grabbing a player by the face mask and telling them to sit on the bench when they dont perform.

Its a wake up and smell the coffee year for Lovie.

In his contract he has control of the coaching staff. If he insists on bringing Turner back, or not taking advice on offensive coaches, he could very well be shown the door too.

Its all a matter of how stubborn he wants to be, if he plays ball he'll likely stay. There are great coaches available and Jerry has to look out for his job too. Jerry's contract is through 2013, same as Jay's, coincidence? Making a move this offseason would give him 4 years working with a new HC before he gets evaluated. If Lovies gonna fight him on the coaches I don't see a reason for JA to wait.

Very true. The biggest problem is Turner and his lack of good judegement on play calling. They have gotten away from Chicago Bears football and went to this experiment. The road they are on right now is going to have Cutler on IR by seasons end and everyone blaming the wrong persons. I think JA is doing well with the tools given him but Lovie needs to look at himself in the mirror and ask what is best for this team.

Isn't Lovie Smith signed through 2011? Do you really think the Bears would fire him and be forced to pay him those millions of dollars for nothing?

yeah todd haley is a great coach, we shoulda grabbed him.  He had the perfect resume for a bears fan to drool over.  He coached a high powered offense, hes a complete dbag, and he fights with his players.

My only problem with Lovie is his obsession with Ron Turner.  We need a new OC.  I think the defense would be fine if our starters were actually on the field.

"We've got the momentum going into the locker room."

Lovie Smith, after Robbie Gould kicked a field goal as the first half ended, cutting the Bengals' lead to 31-3.

    Was he wrong?

They did have the momentum at that point.  The problem was, they immediately lost the momentum during the first series of the 3rd quarter.

Yes, he was wrong. When you trail by 28, you have no momentum.

I keep trying to tell this to blind bear fans but would they listen?  Nooooooooooo

Lovie will be the bears coach until his contract is over and we will still be average at best until he is gone.  The good news is that we have a qb that will be running for his life leading the league in INTS.
