    Question about Ron Turner's job

How long is he signed for? I thought his deal was done after this year, but according to this article http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/1866594,CST-SPT-bear05.article he is signed through 2010?

But Turner, signed through 2010 after a one-year extension he received in the offseason, can't be solely responsible for the breakdowns in the running game.

Is this true? If so I completley missed that part of the off season.

About the fifth Article down it says that Turner Signed a Three year deal in March 2007.

I would assume that contract would expire March 2010 (this off season).
Turners idea of being unpredictable is to come up with a play that has the lowest possibility of success and try to catch them off guard with his stupidity!!!!

wouldn't suprise me to see JA pull some shady backdoor deal like this, why would they give him a 1 year extension?! the offense had been horrible in his second tenure here...

most if not all sports radio shows I have heard are saying Ron is history after this year

its not unusual to give even an offensive coordinator the rest of his pay and tell him to

hit the road. lol and i know alot of you will miss him

Or maybe Angelo is sick of Turner too. So he throws all the draft picks he can at Denver to get a Pro Bowl QB to expose Ron Turner as an OC so bad that he could give him Pro Bowl material and still can't pick up a clutch first down.

    (I've heard crazier conspiracies)

FACT: this is his last year on his contract. The bears can extend it anytime they feel but for now ( hopefully ever) this is the last year.

Do you have insider information, or are you just choosing to go with the kffl link over Biggs' article?

That's a pretty major mistake for Biggs to make in one of his columns. It's also very specific in stating that Turner is signed "through 2010", mentioning a "one year extension" during the "off season". Very specific details there.

    Somebody twitter Biggs!!

Re: Question about Ron Turner's job

I can't wait to see Turner gone as well but is anyone else worried about who they might bring in as his replacement?  The last thing I want to see is another young no name OC (Shoop) or another positional coach with no playcalling experience (Shea).  I think that's the reason Turner has managed to keep his job for this long.  The expectations coming in after two of the worst OC's ever were pretty low.  It's like having to choose between getting stabbed in the arm, shot in the foot, or kicked in the groin with a steel toe boot?  You decide which one matches up with each analogy.

Re: Question about Ron Turner's job

Maybe they gave him a one year extension to protect themselves. At this point he has to know he isn't coming back, but if he has a year left it prevents him from mailing it in the rest of the season, although Turner mailing it in the rest of the season may get us better results than when Turner actually tries to call a good game

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/10337914/Countdown:-Cards-hope-Fitz-can-go-deep

Speculations are forming that RT could be the fall guy for the offensive woes.

"Chicago offensive coordinator Ron Turner has been taking the heat for why Cutler and the offense haven't been lighting up the scoreboard. Turner tried scaling back the offense this week, and he could end up being the fall guy if the Bears don't make the playoffs this season. There is no way that the Bears would consider firing Smith. The Cardinals would like to use rookie RB Beanie Wells more, but he remains a liability as a pass blocker."

Re: Question about Ron Turner's job

I think Bears are gonna do based on whats going on rest of the season...

If they do well and make it to Playoffs (which we want) I bet Turner will stay because that means much improved offense...

If they play bad(mean another crappy season with no draft pick to look forward to) he is gone..

    Its a Catch 22 guys....
