The difference between Saints fans and Bears fans

After reading a few stories about how the whole city of New Orlreans is walking around like zombies and the French Quarter is almost empty after the shocking loss to the Bears, I realized the difference between Bears fans and Saints fans.

The Saints fans absolutely beleived they were going to the Super Bowl and the Bears fans sit cautiuosly and watched to see how the team was doing before we got our hopes up. I didnt think for a second during our bye week that the Bears would win the NFC. Why? Because I'm not naive enough to think my team is so great that they can't be beat.

You can't pin an entire cities hopes on a sports team. Of course I will be going retarded if the Bears win the Super Bowl, but we have to give the Colts respect and if we end up losing because they are a classy team and I would have routed for them if the Bears lost.

People forget we've had incidents like Steve Bartman and we're always cautious about our teams success intil the win is guaranteed. The Bears never lost the lead and I ws so pissed when the Saints got the second touchdown because they were closing in.

I think they were planning a two week party and they figured a shitload of tourists would come down to be a part of the fun until the Super Bowl. Now it's a ghost town.

Even during the Bulls six championship run, I was always on edge because Chicago fans have the Cubs to bring us back to reality. Five outs until the World Series and the stadium (Wrigley) was almost silent waiting for the wheels to fall off......and they did.

The real difference is that Bears fan were Bears fans last year, we didn't see a certain player on ESPN and jump on a band wagon.

That's true, most people from New Orleans could care less about the Saints until the bandwagon came to town. I've been watching the bears since the early 80's, we've had some bad luck and our share of mediocre QB's and I've always been a die hard, watching to the very end even if we were shut out by 20 points.

All of these "new" Saints fans are full of ***.

Not really, the short stop letting the ball go through his mitt on the very next play was the killer. But it was nice and convenient to blame it on the guy wearing headphones at a playoff game.

Bartman was only a small part of the "curse". I checked and the Cubs are already out of it for 2007.

Most of what I still hear about Bartman comes from the media and people who hate the Cubs.

I feel sorry for that poor *** (Bartman), almost anybody would have done the same thing. The only people in Chicago who were cheering at the time were the Sox fans.

What about Alou's wacky reaction to not catching the ball?  He starts yelling and acting all nutty.  If he had just shrugged it off and jogged back to his position, the Cubs win that series!

Don't compare the Bears to the Cubs. The cubs are a bunch of pathetic losers, the Bears are not. The Bears are the # 1 team in Chicago. The Cubs are not going to do anything this year and won't for a log time.

The real difference between Bears fans and the rest is that we have to fend off against trolls canstantly bashing us and our team. It seems like everyday there's a troll in the message board, even on the Bears Football section, telling us how unclassy and ignorant we are. Even when we're good, they can't help but crawl out of the wood works and ridicule us. It's pathetic.

The only difference is the utter lack of class some of the Bears fans exhibit from the safety of their home stadium.  Please, I'm begging you, come down to the South and act like that.  Saints fans don't even treat Falcons fans - and, let's be honest, they sometimes deserve the abuse - with such classless behavior.

There's so much to appreciate about your city and your sports teams - heck, I'm a Cubs fan from the Dawson-era - you should be ashamed how your fellow fans conducted themselves.  I've been to your area before for business, and found the locals to be nothing but friendly.  For a city that prides itself on manliness, your image, to me at least, is more faux than real after hearing about some of the things Chicago Bears fans did.

    Shameful, guys, just shameful.

From what I hear all Saints fans are doing is crying about referees, playing surfaces and how awful Bears fans are.

If you hear it "everyday" Chad, perhaps it's because it is true.  Just saying.

I mean, I've heard a lot of things about Saints fans, mostly what a bunch of drunks we must be, but never that we're "unclassy".  Here's another word you can apply to the unclassy Bears fans: "cowardly".  I remember Bears fans visting New Orleans in 2003, but I don't remember any of them running their mouths like your home game fans do.  Perhaps, it's just that a better class of Bears fan travels to away games, but I doubt it.

Are you saying you know what every single Bears fan does at all times?  are you freakin' Kreskin?  I'll take my firsthand accounts from friends and live news reports over your inability to accept the boorishness of some of your fellow fans anyday of the week.

I still hear very little condemnation from the Bear nation of the acts of the supposedly few.  Your silence may be taken as assent by the offended parties.

No, I'm saying that you are a very sore and whiny Saints fan.  So if alleged boorish behavior by, your words, "some of my fellow fans" and "supposedly few" reflects upon all Bears fans (as you alluded in your first 2 posts) then all Saints fans must be sore and whiny like you.

Out of all of the Bears games I've been to in my life I've never seen an opposing fan get harrassed unless he was acting like an idiot.  But hey your friends say otherwise so....................

By rationlizing their acts, Mike, you allow the few to reflect on the many.  And your assertion that no one's ever been abused at a Bears game, is utter nonesense, and you know it.  I won't even make that assertion about my team, because drinking and sports sometimes leads to boorishness.

Oh, wait, you left some wiggle room by rationlizing that they visitor "was acting like an idiot".  Hillary Clinton would be proud.

Good lord, yes. That's exactly what I meant. Precisely half of all Bears fans are j-holes. Lighten up and don't take things so literally, especially from all of us "classless" Bears fans.

And don't be so sure about your precious Saints fans being darling little angels. My dad (a Bengals fan) was at the Saints-Bengals game this past November, as my brother lives in New Orleans and has season tickets. Lovely Saints fan behind them decides to dump his beer on my dad and yell some totally classy words at him because he was wearing a Bengals shirt.

Just saying. You're going to run into that stuff anywhere in the NFL.

I was at the game. I happened to walk past a hotel where many Saints fans were staying. I, and my significant other caught some shameful acts from some of that crowd toward us. The Saints fans we sat by were very cordial, knowledgable, and decent. I've seen both sides of the spectrum from Saints fans. So please don't make all Saints fans to be perfect, they're not. Neither are Bears fans. There are, in any and every crowd, people that bring down the image of that crowd. That being said, please don't insinuate that all Bears fans should be ashamed for the actions of a few. I can take my initial experience with Saints fans on Sunday and say the same thing to you.
