Your buddy,
wisco
I check over at his "main" board once in awhile but have not seen him there either.
Ah greenie, classic Packer fan. This year especially, Packer fans around here absolutely refuse to talk about football... wonder why? Used to be the very first thing a Packer fan would say to me was some rip on the Bears... not now.

What's to rip on?
Justin Gage is ugly. There you go! Welcome back.
Look at that. The Packers aren't in last place.
Justin Gage huh!!
IHTB, I told you so on many things... have been right most of the time.
The Packers are not as bad as it seems. They will need time to gel offensively. I am a little confused by their defense, thought it was better than what they have shown. Favre should have retired, he really is hurting the future of the team by being out there, namely the development of Rodgers... I guess Favre has earned it but he really is in a no win situation. With what he has to work with he is just not in a position to succeed. The Packers really need to find out if Rodgers can play. If they wait too long and find he is not good it will push them back even further in their attempt to turn it around. Shermie has done so much damage to the talent of that team... should have listened to Plank and I and called that owners meeting years ago....cheers.

I can't argue with any of that. I don't think Favre needs to retire though. But he's simply no longer a fit in Green Bay. The Packers should trade him, while they can still get something for him. Favre can still play. But he needs talent to play with.
There’s been plenty of blame dumped on Favre. Some of it is deserved, since he has clearly kept the team (and its fans) dangling for a few years running. But playing Favre’s advocate (and it’s an unpleasant thing for a lifelong Bear fan to do), what’s he supposed to do? His body and arm are telling him he’s still got the skills, and playing football is what he does. Why should he be coerced – forced – out of the line-up, just because the team’s fortunes have sunk?
Favre himself has contributed, surely, to that precipitous (and GLORIOUS! – ahem) decline. He has always “tried to do too much” (i.e. thrown god-awful passes instead of tossing them out of bounds or taking sacks), but in the past, there was enough talent around him to compensate for his oft-erratic play. But now, he gets much less time to throw, has fewer reliable targets, and what’s more (and what’s clearly not his fault), he is saddled with a defense that can’t stop the opposition, putting him in the untenable position of throw, throw, and throwing again.
I dread stating this openly, because as much built-up animosity as I have for the guy, I also have always had a healthy respect for his abilities (he’s absolutely moidalized us so often, it’s hard not to), and I believe he should be able to go out on his own terms. It’s not simply that he’s “earned the right,” because that would put Favre above the team which, unfortunately, is the problem, as the coaches and fans have done precisely that. I think Favre should be able to captain this (sinking) ship simply because he still can. Mind you, I don’t necessarily think it’s the best option from the Packers’ standpoint, and it clearly isn’t going to help Rodgers. But until Favre plays himself onto the bench, or gets injured (***’s been cheating the law of averages for a generation, it seems), why not keep your best qb on the field until you’ve worked out the other issues around him?
That said, I still believe the problem isn’t Favre, it’s that idiotic pedestal his coaches and fans have placed him on. No one has ever stepped into the guy’s face and told him when he’s playing poorly, and no one has ever threatened to take the ball away from him if he continues to make poor decisions. His legacy looms so large, it’s obliterated the player. And while I don’t believe his skills are much diminished (the ball still comes out like it was fired from a howitzer), I believe he should be held accountable for his play, which rarely ever seems to be the case.
(Oh, and I also believe Madden and the ESPN sucklings need to get off his nipples, but who doesn’t?)
There. Said my piece. And now I really need a shower (though I don’t think I’ll ever be clean again).

That was an excellent post. Well done!
Good points... perhaps he should seek a trade but he already has said he will not go. Maybe the best comment made regarding Favre was Bradshaw, who simply stated his mental (mind) left the game years ago. He still has physical skills but his mind is just not in. Proof being Favre's comment on being traded... basically said it would be too much pressure. Too much expectation. Sounds like a player that is content on playing out his career to chase a record and is allowed to do so because the fans of GB and the organization itself will allow it.
Let's make this official for my buddy weakone

There has been no resweep as of yet.
wisco:your right...for now.
lovchunky: wisco:your right...for now. It's inevitable. What a great thread! Easily the best thing on an otherwise very crappy board.
Thanks LC.
I am sure weakone is lurking so here it is again, just for him
I will be here everyday to bump and remind him all the way through the off season. Cheers
twelvechampionships: wisco:.... Shermie has done so much damage to the talent of that team... should have listened to Plank and I and called that owners meeting years ago....cheers. Shermie, Exactly. He's done one thing for the Packers. And that is now that he is with Texas. He probably advised them to take the trade for Gado. The kid the Packers picked up is doing pretty good. That will be some legacy if the best personnel move Shermie pulls off for the Packers is when Shermie left to Texas.Cheers.
Hey wart, the "kid" the Packers picked up fumbled inside the 10 yard line in their last game. Not sure I would call that doing pretty good. He did get "garbage" time yards when the game was out of hand which is pretty much what Ahman Green has done this year as well.
Top o the morning to you weakie... standings still have not changed.
